There have been some abysmal performances this season. But there have also been performances in which we deserved more....specifically, Chelase away, City away and Utd away..maybe even Arsenal away. SO it's not like we have been getting tonked by all the top sides.

however, given that we have finally started to mix it up a bit - ie, Plan B...I think martinez deserves next season. A full pres-season without the world cup distractions and hopefully some decent signings could well bring a season like last

Or if kev slotted that pen and howard didnt gift leceister them goals we'd be looking towards euro places
True, thats the Prem.If the ball hadn't dropped to Rom in the last minute and West Brom had come to get three points rather than park the bus.In the middle reaches of the table a few good results or a few bad,and it's either Europe or Parachute Payments.

I'm 36 and voted out after Stoke away. Just throwing my 2 pence worth in there mate ;) but yeah I reckon it's a good idea, @davek get working on this one that he's recommended when u get a chance, would be good to get a gage of the fan base.
An overall picture of both sides on the debate (now thankfully settled!) would probably look something like this - based on attitude characteristics rather than demographics.

Embarrassing how pro Martinez camp celebrating our survival from the drop and acting as if we won the champions league.

How this man managed to drop the expectations of some of the fans is phenomenal

No Jay. It's an embarrassment when we have fans no better than geordies who dedicate all their recent posts to trying to get rid of our manager when it may not be time yet, based on their own misguided sense of entitlement and general lack of footie knowledge.

Rest assured the fans mocking you are doing it still with high expectations but hoping that something clicks deep down inside so we isolate this type of behaviour to Newcastle and all the other assorted teds who participate in it.

I'd like to see a demographic ( ideally by an @davek pie chart) which shows the age of the voters. I reckon the majority of 'out' voters would be sub-30 and conversely the majority of 'ins' would be post-30's.
That's a really good point and something I've been thinking about.

I was reading the latest WSAG last night and noted that it was all the lads in their early twenties saying it just wasn't good enough and waning Martinez out, and the older heads calling for patience, as tough as it seemed.

Links into my Lower Gwladys Street mentality thing I've been boring on about. Younger generation want instant gratification and are quick to pass harsh judgement. Not they're fault they are detached from reality as they've been brought up in Xfactor and The Apprentice. And they haven't got jobs when they're adults due to the economic downturn so they don't know a professional working environment. They just want to feel good NOW.

Same with porn. We had to work harder for our grot, finding porn mags in fields and pulling girls in hostile bars and clubs.

They have X hamster and Tinder. Got it all too easy. I'm made up the economy has ruined them.

Hopefully this will resonate and they will pipe down too.

Twitter is a huge example of this. Loads of "new" fans popped up last year when we were unplayable and battering sides, now they're all calling for Martinez's head and wanting stupid replacements like Allardyce and Sherwood.

I'm young myself like but followed us for too long to expect instant success, ridiculous the amount of lads younger than me brought up on SKY SOCCERS and FIFA that have zero nous.

I'm sorry. I just can't do it. I've been trying to divide and polarise the fanbase for the past month but I haven't got the heart to do with it our lids as we have some wonderful young supporters who get it as much as anyone.

This was my Sunday bait but I just can't do it.

Soz hoppers. You deserve so much better.

Good question Woolly, I voted "out" after the Stoke game. I'm made up that we've managed to pick up the results required to climb a safe distance but hand on heart I still don't believe he's the right man for this job. There's just something that's not right for me, well a few small things which in turn make a lot of things. I don't think he will be sacked though I definitely think he's been given a bollocking from up top hence the team scrapping for points instead of his over reliance on the performance and possession being more important. Hoping against hope that we have a much better summer, get rid of a couple, bring 4-5 in and hit the ground running. A poor start and I think he will be gone by end of September
Whether he's sacked or not could depend to a great extent on the opinions of the senior players. If some of the rumours are true and they are vehement in not seeing RM as the man then I can see BK acting should anyone with some sort of track record become available, however out of character that might seem.

If anything i would say it is the other way around. The sub 30 crowd have never seen real success an are far more use to accepting not winning. Look at when Moyes was in charge, for many it was glory years, for the older crowd it was shocking and hard to take knowing at the end of the season there would be no pots to parade. This carried on into the first season for Martinez, for many the best season they had seen and for that reason they are far more likely to want to give Martinez more time, because they haven't seen anything better. 6th to 8th is the yard stick for them.

Use 40 as the age the +40 swing has to be more for Martinez to go.

Disagree loads based on the lids I know mate.

Older heads are patient about it, hoppers are going mental wanting Bilic in.

They don't know their history. But I like how they're moaning already, that coupled with their intolerance means they will make fine blues as they grow up.

Nice try, but I'm not buying. I'm 53. I never once called for Moyes to be ditched. But after the Christmas run of defeats I came to the conclusion that we'd be better off without Martinez. And to be honest I've not found it a difficult argument to win. It's hard to find fans of any age who'll defend Martinez's record this season. Yes, some say "give him more time", but when I produce the evidence as to why he doesn't deserve more time they're nodding their heads. The crappiest argument that people come up with is the "second season syndrome", as if it's inevitable that managers will have a bad second season. By the second season you should have a pretty good idea of what kind of manager you've got.

I agree. I can't see many young uns having been so attracted to us last season, never mind now turning.
