I'm incresingly thinking we should just make garbutt first choice, tbh. I think that would be enough to convince him to stay and if we think baines is past it, it would be the smart long term choice.
Be bold though.
Dont be stupid.

I feel he deserves another season.
What is so frustrating is that I see some fantastic stuff from both him and the team; its so far removed from the Moyes era which to be fair he is judged against right now and I include this season in that.
We dominated at Old Trafford for long spells/Emirates/Stamford Bridge. Yes we lost every one but when did we EVER do that under previous manager? We all yearned for the day we dared to take on these teams like this.
We cant compare this team to the team in the 80's. Its a different ball game and I know most of us wouldnt dream of it. But to WIN things, you must attack, control and outscore opponents.
I admit defending is crucial too and its something that he needs to get right. But I would rather go into a battle with Bobby than any manager since the 80's. At least we have a chance.
Last season wasnt a fluke; it wasnt Bobby getting lucky with Moyes team. It was Martinez and his coaching staff getting MORE from a group of players than his predecessor ever did. Even this season I could name performances where we have played better than ANYTHING served prior to his reign over the last 15 years or so.
Within the last 5 years or so we have got to one FA Cup final, two semi finals and one carling cup final. In each of those we all left the grounds saying 'why didnt we get at them..why didnt we go for the kill'. We were frustrated and annoyed that with someone with a bit of balls, we would have beat that god awful Liverpool team in the semi final, beaten Chelsea over two legs in the semi final of the league cup, gone for the 2nd in the cup final. Yes we beat UTD in a semi, but it was on pens, we never threatened and it was there reserves (doesnt take away the glory).
Its bordering on hysteria to now criticise when we actually do that in games. Yes he is naive at times, yes he is stubborn and yes, his team selections can be questionable. But the same goes with every manager.
Without Martinez we wouldnt have signed Rom; we wouldnt have signed up Barkley OR Stones on long term deals. Lets remember that.
I would say this season is an utter freak of a season for us for a number of reasons. Lets not forget the first quarter of the year we had a serious amount of injuries to KEY players for us; we dominated some games and were left reeling some god awful decisions from referees.
This adds to pressure; it makes players lose confidence and not themselves.
Bobby has earnt the right to be judged next season.
Exactly right.
These people want to railroad the club into forcing this feller down the road.
They're very creepy people. I dont trust them one bit and I refuse to believe they have the best interests of Everton at heart. They just dont.

Nah, I still think Bobby deserves more time but this is just delusional.
To say we've played better this year than we have for the 15 years previous is insane.
You're doing yourself no favours with building him up that high in your mind.
I'd love a sensible debate mate. I've written literally thousands of words on the subject of what's going wrong and what can be done to arrest it (and so have many others), but it's countered by very *helpful* responses like "but he's a clown lad' from snides who just troll the place.
I thought after the Newcastle game we could get back to normal and have some serious analysis in a calmer climate, but that result last night has brought the crazies out from below the stairs again.
Secret handshakes
I am not going to agree with you calling them 'very creepy' and disagree that they dont have the best interests of Everton at heart, because they care, we all do.
But I do think its hugely unfair to try and push the fella off the cliff at the first sign of trouble.
I put it to you that away in Wolfsburg and Young Boys in particular were better performances than anything since 2005.
Let's not associate a noble group of men like that with this lot on here.

I can't wait for us to get another two wins so we can just play lukaku, barkley and 9 kids for the rest of the season, tbh.
Sick of the sight of all of the first teamers. They can all do one to anyone who wants them.
I've decided to fight the good fight with @davek on this one.
