Barring relegation this season ( highly unlikely ) I'd say that's true. The only other way I can see Martinez leaving before then is if he gets a toxic reception at the end of season parade after the Spurs game, and that ain't going to happen.

I should think not too. The feller who reopened the school of science etc...that's a pretty classless kick in the balls if that sorry day ever happened.

That is Ratters for you.

A man who sets high standards for EFC.
People criticise the Rat but you can tell he cares he may not be the greatest pundit but I put more stock in a man who in my mind was one of the defenders we ever had and along side Reidy ,Southall Sharpy and even Andy Gray have done enough for our club to earn the right to voice there opinion.

Agreed, although last night he was accurate in his observations of the very basic problems with our defense - stuff like "he's standing too far away from him" and "he should go with his runner instead of just standing there and watching".

Oh sure, but he just seems so negative! Was like it in the other games as well. Anyrate, he is a club legend. But not a very good pundit. Glad it isnt the other way around.

Let's put it this way (in the event he was sacked): if anyone reading an Everton history book in the future looked at the pages relating to Martinez they'd see a first season like last ones and the stats that go with them...then they'd look at what happened the next season and see that Everton dropped out of the top half and they'd say "yeah, that was pretty poor that second season...but **** me, that was a bit harsh getting rid of him after two seasons like that wasn't it?!"

THAT is how history would judge any Martinez sacking.

Dont be on the bad guys side of history and feel any part of that shame.

spot on

In fairness mate, you're 100% right here. Looking back it would seem a crazy move.

I really hope we finish the season strongly and get our confidence back again.
Too many 90 minute chairmen on forums mate..they think they're Jesus Gil wielding the axe.

Make no mistake: any move to axe Martinez would be viewed as criminal in the fullness of time. A real kneejerk act at the request of a group of fans who feel as entitled as Kopites.

How can anyone even contemplate a sacking before next Christmas?

Unreal.

Oh we are predicting the future now.

Ok Mystic Pigeon.

History will look favorably on Sir Bill for having the balls to sack the clown and replace him with Vitor who went on to win us 14 titles in 15 years after he offloaded all the garbage that El Fraudo had saddled us with.

It'd be comical in a way. Forever the boast of we're not like Kopites would be smashed to pieces...and all because some people are stamping their feet demanding a top half finish this season.

I think it'd partly finish me off with football if a decent and talented manager like RM was hounded out of Goodison. The state of these plazzy Caligula's giving their thumbs down on a manager's fate...on footy forums FFS.

It's utterly lamentable.
