I take it you mean last season Dave because his style this season has not been successful and why? because it is not the same style. But if you did not mean that, where has his style been successful?
His style is to do what he's doing now...which is what he was doing last season...the difference being that we were much better at shifting the ball with pace. That's the key to it. Martinez likes to control the ball and exploit space opened up by passing (see the Coleman goal away to YBs as an example). There's just not enough of that quality in possession this season. My take on that is that we have players who are not up to snuff in key areas: CBs and that space in behind Lukaku. We need to badly address that in the summer.

Sound methods; poor execution. Theres not much to get right to have a good season three, imo.

If this is true then why the continued selection of Naismith and Barry? Nothing against Naismith but that's not his game, everything against Barry as he's the slowest most lethargic oaf I've ever seen. How are they conducive to a quick passing game? How is playing three number 10s with Barkley and Etoo on the wings conducive to this? If he wants to play this game so much why did he buy Besic (a similar style player to McCarthy) instead of buying a creative replacement for Gibson? If he wants passing why did he buy a straight line runner in Aaron Lennon in the transfer window? Why does he persist with a keeper who can't kick very well when one with good distribution is sat on the bench?

None of your post makes sense. Doesn't matter how quickly we pass it round, he's packed the team with players who can't find that incisive pass. Difference was last season he had a good defense and Pienaar, Osman or Deulofeu could come on to add the creativity needed. We'd go one up then could play on the break like we do in Europe. This season the defense has been awful so there's the gameplan out the window. He's aso got no Osman Pienaar or Deulofeu so when he needs creativity to rescue a game there is none. Gibson might improve things but how do we know he'd get into RM's starting 11 if Barry McCarthy and Besic are fit? We don't. He doesn't really fir RM's philosophy of short quick passing anyway. RM needs ot wake up and realise McCarthy Besic and Barry are not Xavi Iniesta and Busquets. They are three very average defensive midfielders who create absolutely nothing in a game and still manage to concede a fair few.

My son has just shown me his toy ,teenage mutant ninja turtle (12inch) which say's over 100 phrases, which gave me the idea of trying to get it to do our press conferences, because the present incumbent has only 4.
we were unlucky
good moment of form
Phenomenal
Tim Howard plays

"Leonardo, your squad looked a little off the pace today, and you couldn't get much going forward. Does the frustration grow each week?"

"COWABUNGA!"

We didn't play badly by any means but we didn't make things difficult.

Jonathan Pearce BBC Match of the Day commentator at Emirates Stadium; "Arsenal were made to work extremely hard for this win and Everton will feel hard done by that they did not come out of the game with a point. Arsenal get the win and keep the pressure on for a top-four finish."

The point was that Roberto picked three defensive wing backs. Presumably, his intention was to make things difficult for Arsenal.

Everton - and their managers - haven't got a very distinguished record at Arsenal; they haven't won there since 1996. But Roberto's team did play them off the park last season.

DaveK and all the other Martinez fan boys very much remind me of a victim of domestic violence. They're so convinced that he will change and return to how he was at the beginning of the relationship, that they're willing to ignore all the beatings that they are being subjected to. I bet you that they will still be making excuses for him in November and December when he finally gets the sack, telling everyone "But they don't know him like I do".

Sorry But Bobby is not good enough. We can play all our remaining games under him and it will be the same. We will be in for a dodgy ride.

Or we can kick him out and stick Joe in charge until the summer. We have a chance then to change it.

I really have no idea how anyone can back him, he has no idea at all.

You failed to read and understand my post. I can't help that, that's down to you.

As for posts making sense, you believe in getting rid of a manager who needs 7/8 points to get us to safety and chance a new manager at this stage of the season. The very definition of nonsense.

Get behind the manager and don't be fickle.

Question: did you enjoy last season and applaud Martinez and the team for it? Well, if you did, have a bit of credibility and stick with him into season three. It's easy supporting a winning manager and team isn't it? Not so easy sticking by them when it hasn't been good.

Interesting theory
