Can you imagine John Terry saying ' I hope we don't concede four goals' ?
No. Why not?
Because the mentality does not allow it. Our mentality does not exist at the moment. From the captain downwards we are an absolute shambles

For Christ's sake, Ive criticised the fella for some things but Jagielka didn't say "I hope we don't concede four goals". By the 5-4, he meant a high tempo, energy sapping game possibly in view of the importance of Sunday's match. Er... and we were winning that game weren't we regardless ?

So you don't think it's a little concerning that our centre back says ' I hope the game doesn't turn into one where we win 5-4'.
I'm sorry but for me that is indicative of a mindset which is pretty poor, especially as weare in such dire straits

No. Read the responses again....you've missed the point mate, with respect.

But you loathed MOYES for 11 years it seems Dave and you're quite stable, sort of, so is venting after two such a bad thing?
Ha Ha. WRONG. I supported Moyes up until 2009, something you'd know if: 1/ you'd been posting here that long (or maybe you have LOL!), or 2/ the archive here went back that far.

You see, some of us have loyalty and some of us are prone to kneejerk.

The worst thing about our team playing gash is that there is no shortage of innocuous quotes for people to seize upon as an insight into our problems. They'll try to get a result, of that I'm sure.

maybe it's because it would not be a good idea to concede 4 away goals in Europe even if we score 5.

would take it against Newcastle though coz it would still mean 3 points

(or maybe you have LOL!)

...genuinely haven't mate but starting to get a touch of the NOYA as it seems I remind some of another? Which, frankly, is a touch dispiriting but hey-ho...

Still tickles me though, that you use the word 'kneejerk' given the season so far. It's been a slow, unpleasant burn to get to this DAVE tbh...

And you question LOYALTY Dave, which most of us have in abundance, but to the club though, not to an entirely novice manager who's becoming more transparent by the day. Still, we all have our reasons eh, just can't quite figure yours out...

Pfffft!!

Loyal my arse.

"Booo hooo, we're not 5th again...boo hooo, get someone else in....boo hoooo". *stamps feet*

Just as a curious question, what made you stop supporting him after 2009 mate?
The fact that, having built his second team, he saw it destroyed in a financial meltdown but stood back, kept quiet and took his £3M a year and limped on...and then had a go at a group of Evertonians for questioning the running of the club. On the footy front: the constant resort to direct football was too wearing. He had players who could play and refused to let them play for all but a few games when the pressure was off.

In short: he was a dead weight offering no inspiration. A limited manager who when he started to criticise supporters just about pulled the plug for me.

Sorry what's the difference between saying I hope it's not 5-4 and I hope we don't concede four goals?

I don't know and I don't really care, since Jagielka didn't say either.

He actually said, I can’t see us going out to play for a 0-0 on Thursday but at the same time we've got to be careful we don’t end up in a 5-4 game.

Away goals are important, so I think I would accept 2-0.
