Martinez on Skys Transfer show.

Yeah, gotta admit it's getting old now.

I expected the Moyes fans to have the knives out if things don't go well a few games in, but I didn't expect the attempted sabotage before the season even starts.

I say this as probably someone who would be considered by most a "moyes fan" (I am not I support Everton). I do however agree with the above. There seem to be a few threads that are being quite critical. On the whole, we have done quite well this pre season. Anybody who thought Martinez was going to turn us into Barcalona overnight is wrong.

A lot of the criticism on this issue seems to be he is not allegedly speaking in a manner with which the fans want. But I think he is. Much like Moyes before him, there is a limited amount he is able to say publically. Everton will have a PR team who will instruct him on the limits. However, I'd rather we didn't have a manager continually bemoaning our lack of spending power, as it doesn't lead to a positive environment.
While I'd love him to say "no player is for sale" when players have buy out clauses it's a patently stupid thing to say. You end up just looking stupid, like Liverpool are with the Suarez affair. He has already said, that he wants to keep Baines and Fellaini, but he is simply not in the position to say that we will definitely hang onto them. However, he seems calm about losing them, and not in a state of panic, and that is a good thing.

Martinez has done well on the whole so far. He has moved early to sign 4 players, all of them offer us different options to what we have, for about 7/8 million pounds. Even as a big fan of Moyes, he rarely managed to achieve this as efficiently and quickly as Martinez. People going on about our small squad, need to remember we have started seasons playing 16 year olds like Baxter and Rodwell out of necessity before. While Osman and Gibson might not be everyone's cup of tea, we are in nowhere near as bad a position as people make out.

New to Everton mate?

Of course if the right bids come in there off, It was like that under Moyes it will be like it under Martinez and anyone else in charge whilst Kenwright is at the top

Whilst Kenwright is at the top!!! Have you not seen the way football has gone in the last twenty years. If a player wants to go there really is nothing anyone can do about it.

Louis (the rat) will leave that sinking ship.

i don't think felli will go now. I'd be really p1ssed if moyes held off bidding until after the season started to bid. He knew about the clause, I don;t see any advantage waiting until the last minute

I think he if he is to hold back until the last minute its because he has run out of options everywhere else, and just takes it for granted he can take our players when he wants, i just hope we tell him to fook off

If moyes really wanted Fellaini he would of signed him already IMO. Lets be honest, that would be a easy deal for moyes to tie up (knows the player, the club, the fee etc). I can only imagine Fellaini is maybe a alternative if other moves don't happen.

I think you're right...and if thats the case If I were Fellaini I'd be well upset that I was something like 3rd choice for Moyes and would be doubtful about playing every week, and in the important games.

This really is the case, its really quite obviously so.
Fact is Moyes knew full well when Fellaini's clause ended, after which point his price would rocket from 23m to close to 30m.
Now everyone is accusing United's lack of activity on Moyes' being very cautious and tight with his money, well why would this change with Fellaini?
If Fellaini was ever on Moyes agenda, even as a fallback post Thiago and Cesc, then that fallback would have been implemented prior to his clause expiring, therefore allowing United to buy Felli on the cheap.
I'm highly skeptical of Moyes coming in for him now.
There's no way they would have allowed the asking price for their 3rd (4th/5th/6th???) choice CM replacement increase by more than 7m just to allow them to negotiate more, when it was quite clear early on that Thiago/Cesc weren't gonna happen.

Fellaini will be sold on deadline day so that bk has an excuse not to spend and the money disappears. We sell every year so it's what comes to be expected at everton

It's mad the way every single year, like ground hog day people have massive hopes for the transfer window.

When will you learn, sadly.

So you're saying that it will be OK this year then, eh, eh........please god let it be good this year.......
