This was posted this in the Gylfi thread, but it highlights a lot more issues with our tactics. There are no options for anyone when they have the ball, players are in their little designated areas of the pitch and do not move. Week in, week out, this is why we don't create any chances or aren't dynamic moving forward and its easy to see how our pattern of play goes
Posted by me. It really does boil down to Sigurdsson though. If you watch ANY other player in that role, they don't do what he does in that scenario. He comes towards the ball, or at the very least he makes a run to get into space to possibly receive a pass.
Sigurdsson does neither, over and over again, every game. So an entire route of attack - up the centre, dragging players out of position, making space to get in behind or cause defensive errors - is completely gone.
It all stems from him. It's why we're toothless.
That said, it's all down to Silva why he continues to play. He's so bad he shouldn't even be on the bench at this point, but not only has he not been dropped; he's basically on 90 minutes of every game, when this season particularly he is, on form, hands down the single worst player I've seen as an Evertonian. No exaggeration, he's been
that bad.
