Just one of those games last night that can stop the hyperbole and just take a breath to realise we are still a work in progress and by no means a finished article. Games like these happen, especially in this league. last season we won against Toon with our one shot on target all game, we had quite a few chances yesterday and couldn't find the net. I know i can see progress despite the result and so I don't feel the need to fume. We are doing ok and much better than last couple of years.

I also feel I should point out that we battered their goal in the first half and their keeper had a worldie. Silva then made the right changes in the 2nd half subs wise but the players who came on didn't get it done for him

At the end of the day, you can only blame Silva for so much

Did he pick a strong enough team to win? Yes

Did we create enough chances to win the game? Yes

Did he make attacking subs at 1-1 that should have seen us over the line? Yes

Not sure what else he could have done outside of sticking on a shirt and coming on himself to be honest

We didn't create a thing in the second half. He left the subs too late in my opinion.

I don't think he left them too late at all

We were bombarding them that first half and their keeper was the only thing keeping us out

It made sense to give the first half crew the fullest chance possible before bringing on the subs after their good showing that first half

We had loads of opportunities in the second half as well, but sadly the final ball just wasn't there when it needed to be, which you can't put on Silva as we apparently spend 2 hours a day on stuff like that according to @Connor , so he's covering it in training, the players just aren't delivering

Again, I'm not sure what more he could have done yesterday. Newcastle defended resolutely and their keeper had possibly his best game of the season. Something like that is out of Silva's hands

There've been a few times this season when people have said 'the team we put out was more than good enough to win the game', when it hasn't won the game, and hasn't necessarily looked particularly likely to do so. It suggests to me that people are somewhat overestimating just how good some of our players actually are.

We're a good side, going the right way, but we're really not that good. If a couple of players are off their games and we're without one or two others, we will struggle to beat teams. That will hopefully change as we see more players brought in by this regime, but the fact is bringing in players like Tosun is currently meaning the team isn't good enough to win. That's just a fact really, he's started 7 games this season against PL teams and we've won 1 of them. Whether you think that's because of his level of ability or the way he fits into the team is up to you, but it seems pretty clear that there's a big drop off when he starts games.

There's not a lot Silva can do about it, he can only work with what he's got, but I think we really need to get past this idea that we have a whole squad full of players who should be beating other PL teams first XI.

We should be beating Newcastle. Look at the money we’ve spent in comparison to them.

Yeah same, I thought Zouma in v Liverpool for their pace made more sense than bringing him in against 11 men behind the ball.
Again, Keane is faster than Zouma.

Think Keane's passing was missed.

I do think Silva got the subs wrong. You can't sub Gylfi when you need a goal.

Subs had to be made to try and change the game. (Correct decision) It didn't change the game (Still correct decision).
Something had to be done and he did it (Correct decision)
