Couldn't be happier with the progress he's making. But we really need to start winning games against the 'top 6'. Appreciate it's not going to be easy but it's the only way we progress. Keeping Gomes on a perm in Jan would be an incredible bit of business. Striker can wait until Summer if that's what it takes.

Really fancy him to get these players fired up to batter Newcastle now.

next season...if we finish top 7 this season then thats overacheiving for a team in transition

6/7th will be a bun fight between us Utd, Leicester and Bournemouth. Watford might be in conversation as well. I do get a feeling Utd will overcome their present malaise so I don’t think the ‘top 6’ glass ceiling will be cracked this season. However, 7th place would represent a pretty good season...moreso if the quality of football we play continues to develop.
But we must set sights higher than 7th if we want to attract and retain players like Gomes...I feel it’s very likely a CL side will get him for next season.

I'm pleased with the progress and delighted with Silva.

This season is a free pass for me within reasonable limits and we seem set to exceed most reasonable expectations.

Quickly putting yesterday to bed will be a challenge for him, not in terms of the games to follow but our wider vulnerability problem in big games, of which yesterday was the most obvious symptom yet.

For me the rest of the season is about getting as high a points total as possible, trying to win the FA Cup, finishing in Europe, and getting a few scalps in the home games vs. top six, most notably that lot.

What silva has done so far is very, very good imo

Realsticly what more could you expect? Yes a few more points away to the big uns but we were very unlucky

Hes laying down a solid foundation we will only get better thats for sure...

Bit late with the subs for me. Think he could have killed the game with DCL and Zouma about 5 minutes earlier.
Had my concerns when he was being touted for the job I have to admit. But overall I was behind the appointment and thought, together with Brands, would bring a style of football back to the club that would be very welcome after 2 years of Koeman and Allardyce.

But I must admit to being surprised, shocked almost, at how quickly and the extent to which that change has taken affect. He has surpassed my highest expectations, and then some.

If I have one issue, and it is very much nit picking, it's that he doesn't make his substitutions early enough. Not just yesterday but in general.

I think we will walk 6th providing we get decent return from the next 4 games...newcastle watford city spurs.

A good tally from those 4 and we have 8 winnable games in a row.

In a way I’m glad we appointed him in the summer rather Han recruiting him last year, I think in a way it’s been a blessing in disguise. That coupled with the appointment of brands. Every summer signing rose to the occasion and wasn’t fazed by it. Marco will
Have em fired up in March and we will win not just win. Convincingly win.

His brand of football gifts every team we play chances

Southampton (Ings)
Fulham (sessegnon)
Cardiff (Coleman)
Leicester when down to 10 even had chances.

It's too open, he needs to tweak the tactics now and again and not play the same way every week.

It's the most attacking football we have played for ages but I have also never seen us concede so many chances.

Its always nice when players actually reply the odd time every now and then to fans as some do,instead of saying nothing like they are way above us etc,i like stuff like that.
Or even worse if they load of video dancing and laughing an hour after a result like yesterday, soo infuriating!

Bernard's tweet shows humility, and definitely shows the mentality is there

Arsenal, liveprool, chelsea all concede chances mate cant expect us to him to get us attacking like we are plus concede zero chances

It's about finding that balance and I think Silva's improving us massively in that aspect. When a problem appears he clearly gets us working on it in training, evidenced in how much better we are now at defending set pieces and that the problem that we had early in the season, where we looked very vulnerable on counters from our own set pieces, has seemed to gone away.

It's still very early in his tenure and as good as we have been for a lot of the season there's a sense that we still haven't hit full stride but I think that will come with time, ideally starting on Wednesday as we need to get as many points as possible from this period to properly establish ourselves in the top 6.
