It is the only way to progress. Cannot continue to do what we used to do and accept the opposition are better therefore shut up shop and try and nick a point. With the new signings and new manager has come a different mindset and belief that they can beat anyone so will attempt to beat them without being gun ho about it. Hasn't quite come off and shows that instead of being miles away from the better teams we are only yards away. All this in half a season so something positive is happening. A true test will come at the end of the season being able to keep hold of Richarlison and Pickford and hoping we have a chance of signing Gomes. You just know the bigger clubs will come sniffing to try and break up our building of a good team hence back to square one. That is why it is so tough for any team outside the top 4/5/6 to progress and join them because they won't let us.

The key to keeping our players aside from the top management and harmony at the club is...signing more top players.

I believe its crucial that we add to the first 11 in January and bring in 2 players (Gomes included).

What silva has done for us in months is unreal, transforming everything about the way we play,Sticking true to his word about nothing would change in the derby how we approach it when so many say the same thing and not do it,and just about played very well in every away game this season for me-giving the likes of man utd/chelsea/arsenal/liverpool a game-unfortunately somehow we only got 1 point at chelsea and that pen at man utd from those 4 games when not just from those 4 but the early away games we let slip were we should have so many points-onwards and upwards for us,not that i doubt we will get any higher than we are now for a while and 6th/7th is where i said and were we should be aiming for really for now, hoping we got that bit of luck to be higher

If we come out of the Christmas period in the top 6 within 5 points or so of the top 4 why can’t we aim a bit higher? We have most of them at Goodison second half of the season. None of them except City look invincible and they’ll all drop points at some point. If we keep on like we are then why can’t we hope for better than 7th? Displacing one of the top 6 which people said was impossible at the start of the season would be a great first season for Silva.

Got it right tactically today squeezed the life out of their attack with Zero space between midfield and defence

They created nothing really, a couple of one on one's which came from our errors, Mane was the only threat for them all game. Salah and firminho totally anonymous and their keeper was arguably their best player.

Despite the results, they're so much worse than they were last season and we're so much better. The teams contrasting luck this season won't keep happening but we're definitely moving in the right direction. We just need to get another attacker or two with more composure.

Bringing on another defender was pure Moyes. Not even arsed.

Thought Marco had some balls.
They would never play for the point no matter what minute it was or if it was our ground, that will always be the difference between the 2 clubs, they want to win at all costs, we don't and never will, you will be hard pushed to find anything as cowardly as this football club.

They literally played for a point for 90 minutes at Goodison last season and Klopp has brought on an extra centreback loads of times.

Mate, they put Van Dijk up front and proceeded with their game plan of lumping it into the box. Another centre half was the correct choice.

Thing is over the past 15 or so years we have not been THAT bad and they have not been THAT good. There is usually a place or two between us in the league yet they always beat us. Its bloody annoying, I wouldnt mind so much if they were the quality side of the 70's and 80's but they are totally beatable.

That's what I say, the annoying thing for me is that only a handful of times in my life have they actually beat us on merit. There's always a flukey goal or dodgy official decision that's the difference, not quality. All the other big teams beat us deservedly more often than not, but they've never really done that to us.

Big job for Silva to pick everyone up after that.

I reckon he can do it though.

Yeah, we'll be fine. Hope we smash Newcastle into oblivion, but we really need to end this second half of the season by beating a load of the teams away. We'll be playing pretty much all the bottom half teams after City. We won't get anywhere if this team keeps drawing all the time.

Couldn't be happier with the progress he's making. But we really need to start winning games against the 'top 6'. Appreciate it's not going to be easy but it's the only way we progress. Keeping Gomes on a perm in Jan would be an incredible bit of business. Striker can wait until Summer if that's what it takes.

Really fancy him to get these players fired up to batter Newcastle now.
