Fair enough, but we can’t keep sacking managers and expect to make any progress. We have a team bloated with players no where near good enough for the top 6, yet a certain contingency of fans seems to expect it.

If we give him time, how are we any worse off than we have been for the past few seasons?
And who in the hell is going to come in and instantly lift us into the upper echelon as a lot of people seem to think should happen after about 6 months of work.

A lot of fans need to face the fact that Everton are no longer a big club and it’s going to take time and money, not just money, to get us back there.

No we always said 7th this season and be solid enough in defence.

We actually get worse if you compare it with the last 2 seasons despite money is splashing out continually.

No Everton fan expected top 6 this season, none.

If the manager isn’t good enough, we can continue to sack them, as not doing so would land us in trouble. There has to be a valid reason to give him more time in the job, what has he shown to us to give us the belief he has what it takes to turn us around?

Sam Allardyce came in and was 6th in the form table during his time here. Silva has came in, spent £100m, added 6 players to the squad, and he looks massively out of his depth. It’s a worrying trend, if you also take into account his time at Hull and Watford.

Everton not being a big club anymore has nothing to do with it. We should be ahead of the teams in front of us, given our outlay on players and experience, but we’re likely to fall further away from 7th place over the coming months.

All in all, he is not doing good enough and should be sacked.

If this club should not sack manager every season when things go wrong then what’s the point of sacking Martinez, Koeman and Allardyce?

Heaven forbid we sack managers like Chelsea and have their success!!! The way I see it :-

We set a target, say 7th/8th, if the manager doesnt achieve this he then has to go. Clauses in contract say if he doesnt achieve goals he goes with NO compensation! 12th to 16th is not good enough. Having under performing managers doers not help us and giving them time is not the answer. Tell them theyve got 12 months and then its up to him to roll his sleeves up. With SIlva it seems he feels like he has forever and isnt really arsed by the results because he knows he will not be sacked.
Above all, appoint managers who have a proven record! I know SIlvas previous stats have been well voiced on here but to see them all come to Everton should set alarm bells ringing to everyone. It will not change next season, expect the more of the same.

I`d get rid now or at the end of the season but in the mean time put him under extreme pressure to show us he can turn it around by the end of the season, see if he has got what it takes. You never know!

Why anyone with any doubts over Silva would say take us in to next season and give him till Christmas is idiotic in the extreme. Why gamble on another wasted season. If their is any doubts, which there is many, he needs to go. Next season cant be anywhere near as bad as this one, just cant be.......

We finished 8th about 10 points behind Burnley in 7th and about 3 points ahead of 12th, how have you come to the conclusion we should now be “comfortably” 7th? This season should have been a reality check for people, that our players are not very good. We have a team full of bottom half/mid-table players, loads of them signed from relegation-battling clubs, regardless of whether they’ve played a couple of games at international level or not.

You keep mentioning “the dross”. WE ARE the dross.

Completely agree with this.

But unfortunately, our current standing / status means that we struggle to attract the more high profile players we need to improve the current squad.

We have signed 3 players who failed to play regularly at Barcelona, a Brazilian whose last game for his country was the 7-0 demolition in a World Cup semi final, a Brazilian who had half a decent season with a middle of the road Premier League team and a centre half on loan , who in 5 seasons has failed to nail down a first team place at Chelsea.

If / when, Silva gets the sack, we will be looking for our 5th manager in 3 years, Martinez was sacked 11th May 2016.

Read that again, 4 permanent managers Martinez ,Koeman, Allerdyce, now Silva, and that does not include 2 temporary ones in Joe Royle and Unsie.

Our club has been in total chaos since David Moyes left.

Iam not advocating a return for Moyes, i think that ship has sailed.

The people running our club need to take a long hard look at themselves.

if i was sam allardyce i would be doing the same thing

how do you shut up your predecessors? you win games, you play good football and you get points on the board.

we are doing none of that

the football might look a bit prettier under silva but we are performing worse than we did under allardyce

at least with allardyce you knew we would not turn up against the top 6 sides but we would at least beat huddersfield and west ham at home

under silva we expect to lose to cardiff away
Haven't we established that we are performing almost identically as we were under Allardyce given the win ratio?

We could be 12th tomorrow when the teams around us have played the same amount of games as us. Worse still is that if Cardiff who are currently 4th from bottom win tonight and then beat us on Tuesday which is completely possible given both their games are at home and we are absolutely cack, they will be just 2 points behind us.

Just shows how disgraceful this season has been for all involved, manager and players.

There is nothing this guy could do between now and the end of the season that would convince me that he is the right man for the job. Even if he wins a few games which is doubtful i am confident that we will have lengthy slumps every season with him in charge. It is all he has ever done in the premier league.
