Brands inability to move on the deadwood is shocking.

Yes , I know they are on wages disprortionate to their ability but he has shown no creativity in moving them on , FFS even Arsenal managed to get rid of Ozil on £350k per week.

What does Brands actually do ?

They're also paying off a substantial portion of his remaining wages just to get rid.

Very few teams have any money at the moment and with most of our deadwood's (Bolasie, Besic, Pennington etc) contracts expiring in a few months they'll hang on and bring them in for free.

Brands' future in Moshiri's hands​

Marcel Brands wants to continue in his director of football role at Everton, but owner Farhad Moshiri is yet to take a call on him, according to a report.

The Dutchman, who arrived at Goodison Park in 2018, is out of contract in the summer and for the moment the Athletic says, the two sides have not agreed on extending his stay.

The 58-year-old is happy on Merseyside and wants to stay but it is now down to Everton’s owner Mr Moshiri and for the moment, he has not decided on whether to keep Brands in his current role.

The Blues supremo is unlikely to be rushed and the decision could even be delayed until the summer.


Surely begs the question then - who does Moshiri potentially have lined up to replace him? given the timing I don't like the sound of this at all.

What of his other jobs looking after the finances for the stadium, advertising revenues, staff costs, club running costs, general expenses, transport costs, to name a few. Why do you dislike Brands?

You forgot, holding doors open, booking taxis and restaurants.

His background is all managerial at much smaller clubs. Doesn't make sense to:

- make him the DoF
- impose him on Carlo's staff
- replace Unsworth

You don't pay a manager top world wages then antagonize him by doing any of the above.

The sane explanation would be an addition to the scouting team. Anybody over there is taking his call and is happy to meet him.

Doubt we will get rid of Brands now Ancelotti is here, the club looks to finally have a bit of stability and a plan of where we want to be since Moshiri took over, it would be mad to start changing things again now
