I’ve said before, I just don’t really see what difference that makes. 99% of that 99% had never seen him play, they just liked the sound of him. I’m not sure about you but I expect scouts and directors of football to put a bit more thought into things than ‘he’s a Spanish under 21 who used to play for Barcelona let’s buy him’. I was one of the ones who was really pleased with it but I remember saying after seeing him twice that I had a horrible feeling he was a dud. Three years later it’s Very clear he was. Also funny how none of those teams who we desperately had to fight to get him were even interested in taking him on loan just a couple of months later isn’t? Almost as if it was just agents trying to get him a better contract.

I'll never forget everybody on here blowing their load because there was a video of him scoring goals in training.. without being marked. The Sandro dream was alive and well.

I doubt Moshiri will axe the DoF Role either, seems he wants that style and when done well it minimises risks of changing managers. Now we have a solid base to work from due to Ancelotti, we shouldn't have as big a problem getting in another decent replacement when the time comes. We'll already have good footballers so no need to try and rush buy for the new man (as per Allardyce), we just keep to the plan.

Silva signed Richarlison. He signed him for Watford before that.

Allan, Doucoure and James were all signings Ancelotti spoke of wanting done. He had experience of Allan and James at Madrid, Bayern and Napoli. Nkounkou is down on record as stating that Ancelotti was the reason he signed for us.

If you think we needed Brands to sign those players you're deluded.

We're top of the league no thanks to him. Look were we were at the end of last season using his expensive duds.

Ancelotti has taken control over major signings and the improvement has been dramatic.

We dont need Brands. We dont need a replacement for Brands. We dont need a DoF. We never have.

I'm not a Brands fan , far from it although unlike you I will give him credit for Digne , Branthwaite and Nkounkou.
However if you get rid of him you will have to replace him.
Carlo has gone on record many times stating that he always works with a DoF and that he wants no part in signing players.

By all means hire a skilled negotiator to do the deals, but If I was a manager and my job hung on the tools somebody else picked to do it with, not ones I'd picked myself...

Brands and Ancelotti work together in tandem, it's really not that hard to understand. They discuss and agree on stuff, this is not a one man army.

IMO we need a proper football industry CEO. If we hired one of those and dropped the DoF role then it'd be a net gain.

I doubt there are too many who would complain at Walsh's employment as a head scout. He did great at Leicester and he signed some decent players here.

Dave it is you that is deluded,. Brands was left to deal with the finances to get the signings done.
