What has he done outside of spending £250M on a group of players who have taken us BACKWARDS?

"Academy set up" - you have the floor on that one. I'd like to hear what he's doing there that we should hand a free pass on to him that trumps selling our best player from last season and failing to replace a key CB.

"Etc"...no idea what "Etc" means, BTW.

It's all a mirage. I cant believe how many fans fell for the Brands Myth. We're that desperate to elevate a club employee that the BS spin on Brands has been swallowed lock stock and barrel.
The players we have recruited in the last two years are MILES ahead of what we had. This mess is all down to the managers.

What's the point of denying somebody a dream move, aged 29 when they've already stayed on 6 months longer than they wanted and served you with distinction? Why would you want an unhappy player and to send a signal to the rest of the playing staff that your word is meaningless?

Oh and it was £30m, as i'm sure you know.

There’s no evidence to suggest that Gueye was unhappy here, or that he was homesick and wanted to speak his own language. He left us because of ambitious reasons. PSG would give him silverware and are a club who are truly trying to compete on all fronts.

If the club were genuinely ambitious to challenge for silverware, as they so oft assert they are, they would never have promised Gueye he could go. They would have told Gueye (our best player) that he’s staying and we’re building our midfield around him. Plenty of players have been told that in the past. “You have 3 years left, you’re staying.”

He’s only 29 and in his peak. If we had ambitions to win silverware and break into Europe inside 3 years (when he’d still be only 32), the club would have kept him. We’re a far stronger team with Gueye than without him.

If he wants to play in the Big Cup then PSG is an infinitely better option than us, I think you'd agree, and he'll have doubled his money also. However, you are correct that I have no hard evidence (other than media stuff) that any deal was made between him and Brands. However, the fact they came back with the same bid 6 months later would sort of indicate that they weren't told he wasn't interested and/or Everton weren't selling.

I am of the opinion that you shouldn't stand in the way of ambition and that if a player's mind is made up that he wants to go, for whatever reason, it's best for all concerned to let him. Your opinion may differ.

Ha Ha.

He had a contract here until 2022.

Nope.

They are bang average. FFS, he bought a WCX one ga,e wonder with no pace at CB; and a load of serial crocks this summer. And bought a striker who doesn';t...erm...score goals.

It;s a 'kin shambles. £250M he's wasted, just as sure as Koemageddon wasted his £200M.

Moral of the story: DONT HIRE FRAUDULENT DUTCHMEN.

The whole "letting the player move for him to fulfill his dream" was absolute small time and I said as much in the summer.

Gana wouldnt have known what a PSG was until about 7 years ago and its a poor poor league.

Wasnt like he was going to Barca or Real Madrid.

We sold him for FFP reasons imo and nothing more and even then we should have got atleast £45-50 million for him from a Oil Baron Club.

£29 million we had our pants pulled reet down.

Yeah that’s a load of bull, I’m only 4 years older than IGG and remember PSG as a big name in the 90s even when they were at their poorest and Gana certainly would considering he played against them many times for Lille

Poor league yes. But then he gets to play Big Cup football every year he's there guaranteed. And gets to play alongside Neymar and Mbappe.

Also why would he have never heard of PSG having played in France for 7 years and them being the most recognisable French club since Marseille imploded?

He's managed to recoup money from duds bought before him, no mean feat.
'Etc'? You're being facetious now, you know as well as I do about infrastructure, projects, direction, scouting & recruitment, development, everything that the club is based on. That 'etc'.
Gueye wanted to go, he wanted to go earlier, but was peesuaded to finish the season off, business, funds 'etc'.
The CB situation was drawn out, we wanted Zouma, Chelsea wanted to take a better look, perhaps Gbamin was a safety net CB until January, who knows?
Above all we are a basket case of a club and I don't envy Brands job one bit.

All theoretical when I'm asking for examples of what he's doing here...other than flushing a quarter of a billion quid down the toilet.

Or Belgian and Portuguese managers, truth is we need to go Scottish again

If Celtic came in for him would we have sold him? He would have gotten CL footie every season.

PSG are a better proposition no doubt - but we should have shown our ambition and either kept him or sold him for a premium - not £29 million which is chicken feed for a player of his talent regardless of age- he's 29 not 32.
