Except on the pitch....

Should have reigned Walsh’s crazy spending in 2 years ago and he knows that, that’s why he went back for Brands last summer and wanted Monchi before that

He had the right idea manager wise when he hired Koeman because no one could have foreseen how much of a disaster it turned out

I could give this clown a wish list of Prem ready players right now but he wouldn't have a clue how to negotiate contracts as he hasn't had any legal training ..:p

Should the players he signed be performing better than they are ? The answer is obviously yes.

Whose responsibility is it ultimately to get players performing to the level they are capable of ? The manager or DOF ?

You know the answer, the players may not be god tier but Silva should be doing far better with the players he has.

He has bought decent players, in my opinion. We were left short but what he bought I was happy with. The players we have are not performing anywhere near their level consistently, as a group, that's down to the manager.

Shut up Dave, you’d be the first one moaning if he was giving interviews left right and centre on a weekly basis, you don’t get it both ways. It’s not his job to manage the team, that’s the guy in the dugout’s job and he’s not doing it to the standard expected

He gave Silva a knife to take into a gunfight.

He gave him a weakened team from the one we ended with last season.

THAT is the long and the short of it.

It's not just about 'team' though is it? It's about squad content, academy set up etc. We're well aware of the deadwood that needed clearing and anyone that thinks it's just a case of dumping players is missing the point. There's balancing squad as well as finances and it was never going to be quick.
The squad was left stronger imho, and it's a nonsense to think this squad hasn't delivered to the level it should be, that's down to the manager not DOF.
