It's not just about 'team' though is it? It's about squad content, academy set up etc. We're well aware of the deadwood that needed clearing and anyone that thinks it's just a case of dumping players is missing the point. There's balancing squad as well as finances and it was never going to be quick.
The squad was left stronger imho, and it's a nonsense to think this squad hasn't delivered to the level it should be, that's down to the manager not DOF.
What has he done outside of spending £250M on a group of players who have taken us BACKWARDS?

"Academy set up" - you have the floor on that one. I'd like to hear what he's doing there that we should hand a free pass on to him that trumps selling our best player from last season and failing to replace a key CB.

"Etc"...no idea what "Etc" means, BTW.

It's all a mirage. I cant believe how many fans fell for the Brands Myth. We're that desperate to elevate a club employee that the BS spin on Brands has been swallowed lock stock and barrel.

...could be worst, Dave, imagine if Walsh was still here!!!

I could give this clown a wish list of Prem ready players right now but he wouldn't have a clue how to negotiate contracts as he hasn't had any legal training ..:p

He doesn't need any legal training....that's part of transfers that's done by the ..er...legal team. I know of your obvious agenda, but at least try to put some common sense into your continuous anti Everton rant.

...brilliant, you highlight possibly his only highlight.

I suspect if Walsh was still here, Gueye would’ve gone in the earlier window, he’d have certainly gone regardless.
Well, he dodn't exactly have the say so on most players did he? Koemageddon did.

Gueye wanted to go because he'd rather speak his native language whilst playing in the European cup and earning lots more money.
Did he? Tiugh. He had 3 years on his contract here to run...Brands was weak. And he sold him ti one of the richest clubs in the world for £20 odd million.

Good job, Marco.

What's the point of denying somebody a dream move, aged 29 when they've already stayed on 6 months longer than they wanted and served you with distinction? Why would you want an unhappy player and to send a signal to the rest of the playing staff that your word is meaningless?

Oh and it was £30m, as i'm sure you know.

Yes,this. We definitely have a better set of players...but I'd suggest that while the perception is that they are top drawer, most come with a weakness that has stopped them being really tops. Gomes...fragile physically and mentally, Delph...injuries have cost a real footballer some of his pace,Bernard really watchable but more end product needed, Kean...young and inexperienced,Mina, injury prone and an error in him,Richarlison, great prospect but his mood effects his game, Digne, good player, better going forward but defensively weak and a clever winger will give him a roasting. Add to the above a lack of leadership....we need a proper, feisty captain,it shouldn't just be the 'senior player'. Looking at the squad we haven't got a natural captain at all. This is why Silva has to resort to random skipper choices like Digne and, wow, Tom Davies. Coleman, while not a natural skipper, was able to captain by example when at the top of his game, but that time is long gone. Possibly Silva thought Delph might be captain material, I did as well, but I now doubt he will play enough games for various reasons to make him a viable leader. Similarly, Siggy might have been but he may not get the game time in future. Brands ,in January, should if possible buy a ready made skipper...someone who can command a regular place, and add some backbone to the teams performance.
