'kin ell. Just scrap the post and go back to a manager who controls coaching and recruitment.

We dont need a DoF, it's a spare arse part of a job. We need a strong, industry savvy CEO.

Get a real manager in and a CEO and punt Allardyce, Walsh and Elstone

Disagree Dave, in these days, a dof is needed more than ever, problem us we didn't hire one, and we never gave him the true power of one either.

A proper, good dof, we avoid the manager to yo mess, we avoid the subsequent recruitment mess also.

Simply put, we had a dof say at the time of Martinez leaving, we 100% don't go for a polar opposite manager when he leaves, we would have targeted an attack minded manager, thus transition for existing players is easier, recruitment becomes consistent etc.

Look at Chelsea for example, 6-7 managers in ten years or so, but all through they have had a "style" which those managers have fitted into, meaning a manager change doesn't require selling established players because they can't fit the new style etc.

As example - Martinez here for three years, his successor should have been a someone who had at least an attacking mentality and who valued technical ability etc

As a PSV fan he managed to get players for us that would almost impossible for us. We don’t have a lot of money but by selling a good story to the likes of Hirving Lozano and Maximiliano Romero he managed to sign them. He also managed go sign guardado who was clearly too good for our competition. His strategy is creating early contacts with talents in countries like mexico and sign the instead of the talents going to the big teams. There was this one agent from uruguay that came here and tried to change contract after they already agreed on the terms. He then called in a taxi for the airport. Eventually the agent didn’t get anything extra.

Completely agree with your bottom sentence there. We had the club set up in a way to bring through players using that method, then we throw Koeman in there...but that just underlines why a D0F wont work here: we have a meddlesome owner who will take massive decisions himself because he's a populist, and that will cut across a DoF's credibility.

In clubs where there's a clear division of labour then it might have a chance of working, but not here anytime soon. In any case it just leads to conflict in the hierarchy.

My hope Dave, moshiri has been burnt badly enough that he gets in someone with a track record in the role, I think part of the meddling is that he's got people around who are frankly not good enough so he needles because they themselves tolerate it because they know they aren't up to it.

That's why a ruthless CEO is required. I think Lawell at Celtic has a formidable reputation up there.

I understand where Dave is coming from with a good old fashioned football savvy CEO. But the professional game has moved on and the income from commercial interests is so much more important. Plus the CEO really needs to be on his game with the new stadium build.

So I would agree with you mate and have a separate CEO and DOF. But we need somebody new in each position. The incumbent parties are simply not up to the task.

I'm apprehensive of anybody coming from Dutch football now, but on the other hand it would hopefully reduce any chance of Steve Walsh destroying this club any further.
