we were not good enough last night in a game we really should have won , Villareal are a good organised team but nothing outstanding about them , the reality is we failed in a big match yet again the team looked tired but still its not a reason to explain the defeat , we lacked aggression and were ponderous especially in extra time
Swap Ole with Emery, United comfortably win that game.

Ole is not a bad manager, he’s not good enough to be bad manager.

A manager manages (good or bad), he does neither. Villarreal made half a dozen changes from the mid point of the second half in order to half fresh legs to keep up with the pace of the game. While Emery could see what was happening, Ole sat on his backside and did nowt until extra time, by which time United were knackered and more than half the Villarreal team were fresh. The result was Villarreal controlled that extra time period and easily managed to get to penalties which was their aim. A competent manager would never have allowed them to get a grip of that game. I had no idea about De Gea’s record on pens (25 without saving one stretching back to 2016) so there’s more incompetence from Ole in not bringing on Henderson who saved 8 of the last 17 he faced.
Yeah agree with that about substitutions but did he trust his subs ? , agree again about Henderson he should be number 1 , this game we should have won they are a decent team but nothing special but we could not sort them out , as a United fan very disappointed but i am realistic to know we dont possess the killer touch

They are never going to move on whilst Ferguson is still effectively running the club and the team.
It's Matt Busby all over again x 10. He was at the pre-match meal with the players last night.
He shouldn't be anywhere the team on occassions like that. It should just be the manager, his team
and the squad. He is just undermining Solskjaer constantly and diluting his authority. I have little doubt
he is still calling the shots on the clubs transfer policy as well. He needs to step aside and accept that he is
no longer the boss, but he just can't. He's just an old man who's days have gone.

I have no idea what SAF does, United wise.

But, iirc, when he got to his first CL final, he invited Busby along for the ride. Perhaps OGS was copying that?

Some say that Marco Silva is still the guiding hand at finch farm......

They lost a penalty shootout because their keeper missed his kick. Fine margins between being dog poo and the next messiah isn't it?

Dont think you can genuinely criticise a side for losing on spot kicks but there is definitely a case to answet whether OGS can get a prpoer tune out of those players. Emery tactical know-how far superior.

Possibly. But the players will automatically defer to Ferguson. Maybe he likes that. To still feel important - who knows?
I can understand why Moyes did what he did when he joined them. Ferguson is stinking the place out.

I thought Busby was gone by '99, but wondered if my memory was playing tricks on me!

I wasnt 100% neither, but I do know it was First of sommet final. Busby suggested Fergie give a bottle of whisky to the other manager, and he did. Think it was DiStepheno, (sic).
