Carlos Tevez... Owen Hargreaves ??
I'm on about RS and United not doing business with each other.

Last one was 1964 according to Wiki, someone mentioned the rivalry started in the mid 80's and i queried why it was so long since they did transfer business.

The Liverpool / United rivalry only started when Ferguson arrived. Definitely not before
and that was because City were not in the old first division for many years at time. SKY came along
and in true SKY fashion they needed to hype up the matches. Who better to hype than them two?
Definitely no serious rivalry in the 60s or the 70's and thats a fact.
You are right about the transfers but nothing to do with it really I don't think. You could say the same
about transfers between Man City & Southampton.

There was rivalry there in 70s and 80s mate, but obviously not as much made of it as it is today.

The reason its a big rivalry is because they are 2 most successful clubs in English football , what is the matter with you are you jealous of it for some reason , again on the United thread again like i say your oil mob are completely obsessed with United

They get annoyed by the fact we view Liverpool as our biggest rivals.

United fans were mainly rooting for City to stop Liverpool winning the title the past two seasons. Says it all really..

Yeah thats correct its a different type of rivalry with Liverpool , the Derby is the Derby thats a given seriously they should just enjoy their success but a lot of them cannot because of their everlasting Bitterness

Must really suck being a City fan, no one takes you serious as a rival and not even in your own city, United cheering them to beat the RS to the title, and the RS fans cheering City to beat United to title. They are like Torino, Espanyol, 1860 Munich where the other team in the city they share has a bigger rival who they hate more in another city.

Yep. Really sucks. 5 titles, 2 FA cups, 6 EFL cups and a Champions League final coming up after years of mediocrity but yes we’re all arsed about whether we’re viewed as a rival. United fans can pretend they’re not arsed about us but whenever they play the RS they spend most of the match singing about ikkle City

United songs are about Scousers, if they are not singing about their own club, didn't even know they sung about you.

I didn't mean it sucked about winning trophies, but it must get under your skin, that your city rivals hope you win the title over a club in another City who they see as their #1 rival. It's weird with your club you win these trophies and it's like everyone shrugs their shoulders like it's expected after your massive state backed outlay, people are immune to it and don't even feel envious or angry, when United were dominating there was more vitriol, and slogan ABU anyone but United, was before my time I'm sure it was the same with the RS in their pomp being hated, Leeds which was well known everyone hated them, with your club I don't sense or see it all,it's really strange, you're scooping up 8 of the last 12 domestic trophies and no one is really bothered.

I'm an avid reader of BBC sport website, morning after you won the title the headline was VVD not going Euros and United playing a weakened team, was even the same on Twitter, City winning the title was around #6 in the top ten trending on Twitter sports.

I've read somewhere that their rivalry goes back to the 30's ... can't remember the reason behind it then.

Certainly in the late 60's there was a lot of nonsense around: United's coach getting bricked on the East Lancs with Charlton and Busby getting slightly injured. Also remember a couple of pathetic insulting flags on the Kop at the 10th anniversary of the Munich crash. Both reported in the Echo at the time.

These days? As a couple of posters have noted a few times, two cheeks of the same arse.

What do you think of Kopites coming on here pretending to be a Blue mate.
They’ve got to be some kind of weirdo right.
Their hate for City is a real give away don’t you think, especially when they take sides with United fans.
Hence the expression, ‘real kopite behaviour’ :bye:

Limited profile is another give away

Last time they have done any transfer business with each other was almost 70 years ago.

Why is that?
Phil Chisnall I believe is the last (was in the news recently after he died). Moved from United to the RS in 1964. It’s incredible really. Obviously he had Inter Milan in between, but Paul Ince wearing a Liverpool jersey did look surreal.

Recall Figo going directly from Barca to Real after Real met his buyout clause...cue pigs heads being thrown at him when he played at the Nou Camp.

Can’t recall the last dealings between Rangers and Celtic. Mo Johnstone played for Celtic before playing for another team before his sensational move to Rangers. Kenny Miller also had another team in between signing for Celtic.
