Match Thread Man Utd V Everton. Sun 3 Aug - 22:00 BST

For the American Evertonians making the effort to go the game today, genuinely hope you enjoyed that and the team have done you proud.

Always amazes me that we have fans abroad still supporting us and loving the chance to see us live
I thought we (team and supporters) put in a good performance considering it felt very much like an away match. United fans were everywhere, but we held our own in the stands compared to West Ham and Bournemouth.

My dad is “old fashioned” American when it comes to the world’s football (only watches our local university and USMNT - and gets easily frustrated by both), and he commented on how much better we and United were and really enjoyed it.

How the hell are the Yanks loving Maguire?
Uh...they voted for Trump, dont look for a logical answer:
Sorry, I know he hasn't been given any opportunities, but I just can't see anything in Barry to get me excited.
I would love to have to eat humble pie, but I'm not seeing

Much better performance tonight and a deserved point for us. Whilst we got extremely lucky with that own goal, we played quite well and looked like a team that could offer something to a match when playing in a back four.

Two things annoyed me: the referee and the commentators. Both seemed to favour Man Utd (what's new there?) The referee ignored multiple fouls and Barry's injury, with the commentators never missing an opportunity to hype up a fairly average Man Utd side.

On a side note, that stadium is superb, besides the pitch and of course the red seats. I liked the steepness of the stands, which you could see when the camera angle behind the goal was shown, and the quite unique roof was a sight to behold as well. Personally I think it is a much better stadium than the MetLife, where next year's World Cup final is set to be held.

Even though it’s preseason made up those horrors unitescum didnt get the undeserved win. BF was cr@p all game and kicking out like that disgrace.
Comical their own goal. To this day will never understand how a large amount of people seem to feel Ashley Young’s peno decision was right to be overturned last year then you see that peno given tonight. Beggars belief.
Beto why is he spinning around all the time just get you shot off. Huge sitter missed first half.
Not seen anyone mentioned Tim Iroegbunam. Really like him in the team. Sets the tempo for pressing high up the pitch. Charley did this well too. Good press today.
Tim redeemed himself today a little:)

I think the fan “result” on this side of the pond is a difficult one to determine until a few years after. There will obviously be some that will purely / superficially gravitate to the “name” of United, but if we have a good supporter showing in the stadiums, the more dedicated / long term supporter types will want to be a part of an underdog, provided they’re not the only ones. Football is still growing here, and most new fans don’t want to be seen as just jumping on a marketing bandwagon.

I’m happy to finally get my dad to the match today - hopefully he and I will make it to the new ground in a year or so.
Yeah but you've been chosen, tell all the other 'mericans to ahem.... Leg it !!! It's not too late for them. 😂

Good man though, anyone coming to Everton after these matches, well, god bless 🙏

Commentary is disgraceful...sounded like England playing against another nation, not 2 Premier league sides.
Blah blah blah, last on MotD, never get any pens and so on and so on. Change the record. We come across as a desperate fan base with the insignificance of things like commentary being biased.
