Obviously there's the rivalry side of it that he won't fully get like you say but if he goes there surely he won't get the game time he's after? Well you'd think not and that would show him up in a bad bad light.

Those getting dead angry about him leaving and pretending he's the next generation Roberto Carlos lets me know exactly who the pubes are.

Because the decision will have an impact upon the club for years to come? Like most personal decisions do?

He's third choice NOW. He might not be third choice next year - Baines could start to decline, or Oviedo could fail to recover from his injuries, or Moyes could come in with a can't-say-no offer for Oviedo. Lots of possibilities, lots of factors to consider. The best outcome for the club would be IMHO to get him re-signed to a five year deal and then loan him out (presuming Oviedo regains fitness).

Baines being excellent for the last six years doesn't mean we don't need to plan for life after he goes.
