I think potential is there but we've seen far less of him than Oviedo. Bearing in mind that there is only a couple of years between Garbutt and Oviedo and Oviedo looks better at this point in his career I would rather Keep Bryan barring injuries of course.

Oviedo is 25, Garbutt is 22, so I'd say that's reasonably significant.

I think Garbutt's delivery from set pieces and in open play is also a key factor too.

But really it's all very speculative. At the end of the day, I'd rather not have anyone that doesn't want to play for us! So we'll see what happens.

I think it was you that said 'two of our most exotic players we've ever signed- a Belgian Winger and a Costa Rican wing back- are called Kevin and Bryan'

Always stuck with me that.

Liverpool City and Spurs all have far worse players than us at left back. Enrique, Moreno, Clichy, Kolarov, Rose, Davies? I'd take Baines or Oviedo over every single one of these. Garbutt could easily be first choice at Liverpool with even half decent performances. He's have to be world class to get in at left back for us when Baines and Oviedo are fit and in form.
Whilst I wouldn't take Oviedo over Kolarov, I agree with the overwhelming majority of this post. The key for us as a club has to be looking forward over the next five to ten years, because neither Baines nor Oviedo will be here forever.

Has anyone actually seen Garbutt defend? I'm not saying he's a poor defender, but I do remember him making some mistakes on defense.

I'm baffled so many people think he's the next Baines because his corners and crosses are good. All of that is secondary to his defensive responsibilities.

Look, Garbutt surely is talented..but he is acting like a tit here. It's very simple, he holds all the cards in his pretty hand, he knows he'll be in bigger role after some time, he knows Martinez appreciates him. He acts like he's proven which he's not.

We will see what his decision is. As a Evertonian I hope he stays...but if he goes..Koff silly lad, hopefully you wont do Goslings

Didn't we scout Andrew Robertson for ages? Perhaps if Hull get relegated and Garbutt leaves we'll rekindle our interest in him.

We also seem to be developing quite a few good fullbacks through the academy.

Oviedo is a very good left back. But whether or not he'll ever fully recover from his injury remains to be seen.

I've always felt that in Martinez's time here, Oviedo suits our system better than Baines. He's more of a left-sided Coleman. Obviously Baines is the better player which is why he's first choice.

But yeah, sign Luke, you utter bell/perhaps nice person as none of us really know what's going on.
