Lukaku

One of the worst posts I've ever seen! Lukaku cost Chelsea 12M ACTUALLY!!! With a further 5M in add-ons, now given he's barely been on the field for them I'd say its safe to say he's most likey not triggered that extra 5M yet. Chelsea with all their riches are clearly trying to keep an eye on FFP. Now come summer if they want a falcao or cavanni etc... They will have to bring some cash in. To say Chelsea will demand and GET 20M+ is delusional.

As for the long/hoof ball you spout, just because we don't play that way as standard, there's certainly times when balls come into lukaku at above waist height and he needs to be able to control it and lay it off. Currently he is weak at doing that. The same as if the ball is popped around the floor and into his feet he needs to be able to control it and lay it off, which again currently he is not the best at!

Exactly. Don't forget the £12m was a Cheski price too which was inflated at the time.

I don't know where you guys come up with this stuff. You're miles off the mark. It is glaringly obvious that these traits are much less relevant now under Martinez compared to our old playing style under Moyes. We don't play hoof ball anymore which is why a target center forward is much less relevant to us. We keep the ball on the deck most the time now. There is a reason why Fellaini was so successful here under Moyes. He was fantastic at receiving long balls in deep and distributing them to teammates. It's just not as crucial now.

So why did Roberto sign a beanpole?

I honestly think Martinez made a big mistake getting rid of Anichebe, seems like his perfect centre forward; I suppose in hindsight he had probably banked on Kone not being injured for over 90% of the entire campaign.

I tend to agree, at least off the bench. Too often people equate "target forward" with "hoofball" which couldn't be further from the truth. Everton could certainly use his hold up play and physical presence on the deck as well.

This isn't to say Anichebe is good, but to say he brings something that we certainly lack and need.

Well my room mate here is half Ivory Coast half Belgian and has told me Traore is very very good with his back to goal and has good technique....certainly better than Lukaku in this respect. Also said he is a fighter, but maybe thats more for the national team as he doesn't find it so easy to get in the team.

Contract ends in 2016.

If we can loan him next season, by the end he will have 12 months left on his deal.

I think Chelsea will look to cash in, this summer.

I love Lukaku. He's 20 and in 2013 was the 2nd top scorer in the league behind Suarez.
He'll come good.
Look at Adam Johnson and this last weekend Oxlaide-Chamberlain. There are always reminders out there, don't write off young stars.

How much do you think he would cost? 20mil/25mil. I think it would be great to get lukaku in but think there could be cheaper options out there rodrigo at benfica, batsuayi at liege we could prob get both for that 20 mil combined

Neither one who has played one minute of footy in the prem or any other top league mate.
Lukaku wouldnt cost 25m anyways, 15-20 tops
And hes IS proven in this league, so a absolute no brainer decision which option to go if chelsea and the player are agreeable and we have the dosh

You people keep saying that because you want it to be true. There is NO WAY he will go for that cheap. None. So stop getting your hopes up.
