Lukaku

I like Lukaku and I would love to sign him, I just think to blow say £20 million on one player is not a sustainable or realistic transfer policy for us given our finances. I think we need to be finding value at £7-£10 million, although it seems £7 million only buys a Jelavic, Kone or Long these days...

I think the fees these days are
40mil+ world class
30mil+ top international forward
20mil+ proven in domestic league
Under 20mil is a gamble these days

Much as I would like him to stay and learn more under Roberto, it is highly unlikely. Lukaku wants Euro football and we only have a very small chance of that where as his owners Chelsea can guarantee it every season and it is there he will return.

Aside from that do we want to blow over 20 mill on one player?

Personaly think he'll be around the 15M mark tbh. It's definately potential you are buying. Being realistic he HAS to improve on his touch and link up play if he wants to play at the highest level. And so far I wouldn't say it's even improved being with us.

He'll also if I'm not wrong be entering the last 12 months of his contract come summer won't he? That's gota affect price, not to mention Chelsea will sign a world class striker in the summer. That has several bearings on what and how much lukaku will be available for.

Under 10m for a striker and 9 times out of 10 he'll be a bit 'meh'.

Pretty much unless the buyer strikes lucky. If we use my formula (lol) then we pay 20-30mil for lukaku I think we'd easily see a 5-10mil profit on him whenever we wanted over the first couple of seasons.

I was thinking he was slotting 1 goal every two games for us and same for west brom last season. Thats worth 20mil in itself.

I would buy Lukaku as we couldn't get better to be honest, top strikers cost a fortune and lukaku got the potential and ambition and drive to be a top footballer

This is why I can't understand all the talk of us "breaking the bank" to buy him in the Summer.Trapping or chesting down the ball and laying off a short pass is the sort of thing you learn in the school playground.I know he's only 19 but if he hasn't mastered it by now, will he ever? And given the way we are set up it's pretty important

Anichebe couldnt. But now it's his main attribute.

If we could get Lukaku permanently for around £15m then it's a no brainer! He's 20 years old and that's 15m for up to 9/10 years of top class ability. He'll only get better, and he's already scoring a good amount.
