Thought the early signs looked very promising between Lukaku and Miirallas linking up
These two have everything to gain by playing well together. It is going to take a little bit of the selfishness away from Kev knowing he’s got Lukaku waiting for crosses.

I'm not sure how the whole video thing works across stations but the NBC one was showing Rom heading in to the centre circle for the second half start and the look Nolan (I think it was him) had on his face was classic. Eyeing him up on the sly, in awe and sh*t scared...fantastic having a player that does that to the opposition.

Nice post mate and hope you keep dropping by throughout the season etc, yeah he was superb today, game spun around from turgid to dynamic at half time when he came on, and think dynamic's a good description for the lad, wasnt for still being groggy from being knocked out im pretty certain he would have scored a secomd when clean through as well, just seemed to still be under the effects from the head clash though at the time

reckon we can have Mata on loan from you in January as well? ;p

On a serious note though mate, you think Mourinho is too demanding in some matters, ie lukaku needing to improve the weaker areas of his game before playing for you, mata having to work harder defensively etc before he will be trusted again?
Not particularly. He has a point about Mata's complete lack of a defensive contribution. While I think he should be allowing Mata a free role like he did Sneijder for Inter (who was also ****e defensively), he has been vindicated in his faith in Oscar. He's been utterly outstanding for us in the number 10 position and he is defensively much better. Mata seems to be getting the Joe Cole treatment, and that did work once before. Time will tell if he responds to it.

As for Lukaku, he does have his weaknesses which he needs to work on. They'll become aparent as the season wears on. His technique is still a bit raw and he needs to learn how to use his incredible physical assets to his best advantage (like Drogba did so well). Unfortunately in Chelsea the owner, fans and media all demand instant success so there is little room for a young player like him to cut his teeth. This is why we make the most of the loan system.

Think Chelsea will try again to sign Rooney. Or Falcao. Or another striker like that. Gotta hope that Etoo/Torres do enough for whoever's Chelsea manager at the end of the season to keep them and not want Lukaku.

Lukaku may have enjoyed playing for West Brom, just think how he'll feel among his full home debut in a night game at Goodison vs Newcastle.

Mourinho has all but stated that he doesn't rate Torres and Ba, but he's unfortunately stuck with them for this season at least. I'd be very surprised if one or both of them wasn't shipped at the earliest opportunity. The problem was he needed somebody he could trust in that position, and he knows Eto'o well and what he will bring. We couldn't justify having 4 on the books at once, so it was best for Lukaku (not us) that he had another loan to ensure he got plenty of games at a club where he was truly needed.

What I think will happen next summer is Torres and/or Ba will go, Eto'o's contract will end, Lukaku will return and we'll try for Lewandowski who is out of contract. The main issue there being that he has been seduced by Bayern. But Lukaku will almost definitely be one of our two main strikers next season - anything else would be a catastrophic mistake.

he'll probably become a better player. drogba didn't become a player until he was about 26 and he was nowhere near as good with his feet as lukaku is. both fine fine strikers though.

He can potentially be better but Drogba's technique and holdup play is leagues ahead of Lukaku's at the moment. Though Lukaku is stronger and faster than Drogba ever was. You're right in saying Lukaku is blossoming much sooner as well, Drogba was in the French 2nd division at the same age and almost quit professional football. I also think Lukaku has a better attitude, as Drogs had a tendency to strop when things weren't going his way.

He scored 17 goals in 35 appearances (15 of which were subs) last season, he's in better form than any of your other strikers. Sending him out on loan and bringing in Eto'o was nothing short of total idiocy on your club's part. He may be 'raw' but i'd wager he'll score more goals for us than Torres, Ba, or Eto'o will for you.

He's over-rated. He's worth £15m tops.
:dodgy:

This kid is an immence freak of footballing talant, he,s got everthing in his locker.

Bravery, presence, skill, these are all attributes that influence every other player around you to look what it is to wear a Everton shirt..

We should make sure we show as fans, that when Everton touches your heart, Romeleu Lakaku sees his future with us...

*Break the bank Bill, you,ll treble the money in 3 to 5 years FFS!!*

That may be the case, but what if he were to miss a sitter against Barcelona knocking us out of the CL semi's? Or what if he takes a while to find his feet? The media would get on his case immediately. There were enough snide comments made after his penalty miss against Bayern. Do you remember what Torres was put through in his first half season with us? I suspect that's part of the reason he never recovered, the media are relentless on players going through a tough patch at the top clubs. Same happened to David De Gea at United when he first arrived, and recently to Joe Hart at City. There is no room for error at these clubs and that is not a good environment for a 20 year old still learning his trade.

Loaning him out was in his best interests, not ours. Chelsea can't really be criticised for that. This isn't a slight on Everton, it's just that any sign of weakness at Chelsea is like blood in the water. For Everton, Europe (and cups) are targets. At Chelsea it's a bare minimum expectation. No matter how I try to word this I sound pretentious! It's essentially because Chelsea spends absurd amounts of money, winning is demanded.

We were in a DEFCON 1 crisis mode yesterday while we were top of the table because we suffered an upset to Basel. When he was first signed under AVB before his West Brom loan, he got the odd cameo and was being written off then at age 18. People only started to credit him after West Brom. What he needs is a full season with regular starts in a good team that tries to play football, and Everton is exactly the team for that.

He's just gonna be boss. He's gonna get what it means to play for us and we're going to love him. And then we'll have to give him back and wish him well while not so secretly hoping it doesn't turn out so we can be there to pick him up in a year or two.

No disrespect Robben, but the lottery winners like yourselves and Citeh have proven that real talant can be bought and benched,, it annoys me that teams are deprived of that mostly untapped skill because their wages cannot be met..

Blame Jack Walker myself*..

What a pretentious ****!

In all seriousness, you make some very valid points. I happened to be reading RedCafe today during their game with Citeh. When Fellaini took a bad touch (which he did), they piled on him for being not good enough, and his touch was terrible...a mid table player...blah, blah, blah. Was sickening...one bad touch, and the guy is gash! Then, when he was the first player to actually make Hart do something, all they could do was say 'first time we made Hart work' or 'we finally got a shot on goal'...no credit to the man who made Hart work...was a good shot, even if a bit ambitious. Fellaini and Moyes ('koff Moyes) stand no chance until they pull off the spectacular at UTD.

Lukaku is a bit different though...already shown a successful loan spell...while I'm sure we're being a bit over zealous at this point, he could indeed be the difference for us to achieving the goals you've stated. Europe and/or a Cup. If we achieve that and your lot finish any less than League Champions, as unfair as it may be, it will be viewed as Chelski gifted Everton those achievements and 'we' lost the league because of it.

Slippery slope...guess I just gave you a reason to see him/us fail...FFS

Its actually hilarious how different broadcasters choose to dress up their stories. See if you can spot the difference- apparently certain direct quotes are considered negligible by Sky.

"Everton were that step I needed. As a team they are always close to the top four and get to cup finals. That was really interesting for me," he said.

"Every time I played against them I had difficult games so I wanted to play in that team. After the top teams I think they are the best team in the league.

"At my age the most important thing is to play and develop. Everton gave me the opportunity so I'm very happy to be here. Chelsea is the future."

He added: "It's true that I watch every single game in the league - 90 minutes. I take my time to study and to learn other strikers' movements and to learn about other defenders. I take my time.

"Really I want to be one of the best in this league so you can only learn from the best by watching the best. After training I go home and record every game. I have a satellite and I just watch the games.

"My aim is to go down as one of the greatest. That's why I'm at Everton. I'm here to help the team, the team is here to help me."

Lukaku, on a season-long loan from Chelsea, said: “It’s true that I watch every single game in the league – 90 minutes. I take my time to study and to learn other strikers’ movements, other defenders. I take my time. Really I want to be one of the best in this league so you can only learn from the best by watching the best.

“After training I go home and record every game. I have a satellite and I just watch the games.

“That’s why I’m here. I’m here to help the team, the team is here to help me. Experienced players. I’m in the best place for my age – if we can combine our work together, we can have good results.

“At my age the most *important thing is to play and develop. Everton gave me the opportunity so I’m very happy to be here.

Chelsea is the future, the past at this moment, but maybe the future. We’ll see at the end of this season.”

Yes they both omitted different parts, but considering the media's love of rocking the boat when it comes to Everton players' uncertainty, seems a bit odd they'd leave that out.

Oh, also, I love you Romelu.
