Lukaku

I think Martinez will start with Jelavic and bring on Lukaku on 55-60th minute if it's not working. The quotes I've seen coming out of his press conference seem to be hinting that way, with Lukaku set to start against Fulham. I've already moved Lukaku into my FF team, so I hope I'm wrong, but given what's been said and the fact we are coming off the back of a good win with the same starting XI available, I think all signs point to keeping a winning team.

Can we just put him in at the start? what would it say to the rest of the team.

"Oi, Nikki. You know how you were boss when you first came here and we all loved you? Well, football is a fickle business mate and quite frankly you've been f*cking sh*te for the last 12 months, there's 4000 Evertonians outside that would rather listen to Melvyn Bragg for 8 hours than watch you fall over trying to trap a ball you divvy, I don't even care if you managed to spoon an off target header onto the mush of that Scottish giant last week, you're absolutely last you yano."

Something like that hopefully.

its all about man management isnt it.

If RM has a word with Jelavic this week, explains he wants to take him out the firing line etc etc then gives him a few days to get used to the idea it wont be too bad.

If jelavic is tying up his rainbow laces and RM says 'eh soft ar5e...what are you doing? your not even in the squad' then there might be a bit of an issue.

Realistically though RM on record as saying jela is doing lots of work for the team...its not all about his goals, says to me Lukaku is on the bench to be used as a sub on saturday. he wont be thrown straight in IMO but might start against fulham

Why do some people have to find something every game to be over the top about?

Ossie has to be benched! Jelavic has to be benched too with Ossie sitting on top of him so he can't come on, or else West Ham will kick our faces in 12-0!!!

Martinez wouldn't be the first manager to stick with a former regular player even when seemingly out of form, and he wont be the last. I am sure once Lukaku gets a run out though Jelavic will be out soon after with Kone ahead in the pecking order. So he either responds and starts scoring or he is done most likely.

The whole fanbase let out a collective groan when Naismith the Giant Killer was picked last week and that turned out pretty okay. He may very well stick with Jelly, and we should still be able to beat West Ham whether Lukaku comes off the bench or not.

Moyes said the same things though, it's all just PR bullsh*t. In reality he's just a very, very poor option up front.

When phrases like "works hard for the team" and "holds the ball up to bring others into play" start coming thick & fast it's just a cover for the fact that a player is absolutely hopeless in front of goal, same things were being said about Yakubu when he couldn't hit a barn door here.
