Yep, it's glaringly obvious we need a peak form (for us) Arteta type CM.

Hard to know if it's this we need or a playmaker higher up the pitch.
Or both.
I think, apart from a striker who will hopefully be Big Rom, a playmaker who can play across the supporting three will be brought in. For me it should be a priority.

May have something to do with not playing against Greek defenders week in week out mate, on Lukaku ste though mate your opinion is well biased, the lad has amazing potential and we are a completely different team without him, without him weve seen much more focus on closing down our other attacking players purely as Lukaku demands a lot of attention from the opposition
Like with us for a whilst though what we actually need more than anything is someone who can do a bit of creativity, a final pass, and has a passing variety to change up the way we play a bit, only one who even had a little of that was gibbo, for next season we need to pay attention to addressing that pronto

We need both mate, and i'd go further and say we need a backup for those roles in case of injury - be it via loans or bargain deals like the one that saw canas go for like 2.5m to malaga
Lukaku, Tadic and Defour mate, we wont get them like but that would make us a very very dangerous team next year

To be the most effective the playmaker would be sat in central midfield. However to get thw best out of Barkley, he should be playing there alongside McCarthy or Barry.
So it isn't really a playnaker thats needed, it's someone sat behind the centre forward (lukaku?) Whose role is to supply passes for either the forward or onrushing midfielders to take shots from.
