Lukaku Agent: “Something’s changed at Everton”

All this story means is that his agent is doing his job of keeping all his options open. Come next season Lukaku will still be playing professional football for a living and there's a very good chance he'll be getting paid even more than he is now. Going to the press and saying this, that and the other means absolutely nothing in the long run.

There's no way there's gonna be a principled stand of sticking him with the U21's while he's under contract. The people running Everton now didn't get into that position by putting costly principles before sensible and financially beneficial business decisions.

Translates to give Rom a pay rise and he will stay. Nobody is bidding £60m for Lukaku and he knows it.

We don't need to give him a pay rise if nobody is bidding. In my mind Raiola has just become surplus to requirements.....or a very expensive mate. Time to see if Lukaku really is " a bright young man" or just another thick-as-turd footballer.

Nothing will be the same. Sounds better every time I hear it.

No but extending his contract certainly keeps us in a strong position if he decides he wants to go next summer

Sandwich shop by me does a brilliant bacon and avacado in ciabatta.

On topic Stones can have whatever he likes on his butty, he's a great player with bags of potential and I hope he realises it at Everton.

On Lukaku, he's definitely fractured his relationship with the fans with comments but the only replacement we could buy with the money would be ANOTHER modern footballing mercenary.
Might as well stick with the one we have who's young, likely to get even better and is a proven premier league striker.

I don't agree. I know quite a few City fans, supporters for 30 years or more, and their attitude since the Sheiks ploughed money into them is simple.
ENJOY THE RIDE WHILE IT LASTS !!!!
Oh, I'll certainly enjoy the ride, Steve, but it hasn't started yet. A lot of us are making assumptions about how much money will be
be spent, but 100 million in (just the first) transfer window and a new stadium on the river is a big chunk of Mr Morishi's 1. something
billion pounds.

I know he won't be using his own money for much of that but we're not the only club 'owned by a billionaire, in fact I hear that
Southampton are backed by an even wealthier investor.

No, comments such as '....we don't need the money anymore' and 'We are the Mersey Billionaires' are cringeworthy.

Edit. See post above.

Thing is hou he might have more coin but has he got the same ambition to see his club win things? They way Southampton still seem to be easy pickings to take players and managers I would think not. He could be like Kroenke and see sucess as £££ revenue rather then pots in the cabinet.

I've said for a long time....promote the juniors and get rid of the big 3. And learn how to play defense. Even England's backline is better than EVE's.....how about Martin Skrtl? Just looking at funes mori will make him better. He'll be wondering how Martin makes sausage out of an Argentine....

What on earth are you talking about?
Genuinely confused but thinking you are saying get rid of Stones, Lukaku, Barkley and get Martin Skrtel who is going to look at RFM and turn him into a sausage?

This is a tricky one. On the one hand, no one is bigger than the club but with another £60m+ in the bank, do you trust us to invest it wisely? With some of the figures being knocked around for players like Schneiderlin, Wijnaldum, Blind, Mata makes my head spin! I read £25m for Schneiderlin ffs! Good player and would imo improve the squad but £25m cmon!

Lukaku is a talented goal scorer but he has a way to go to become the finished article. Quite honestly I question whether he's capable of taking that step up too. His first touch is generally awful, he does make some decent runs and he's definitely a boss slotter. His attitude does stink to me, to allow his agent to continually run his mouth he has to take some blame here too.

I say sell him and reinvest - but only when the targets have been subject to a hard enquiry and we're confident of landing them, with back ups for contingency. 2 x £30m+ forwards has got to be worth taking the risk - surely?

Are you for getting Stones handed in a transfer request...

Lukaku hasn't.

And "hedging his bets" is a significant change in stance if itself.

The message before was that he was deffo off.

He has painted himself into a corner......it has to be a "world power"

Only three teams in this country fall into that category......and Arsenal ain't one of them.

He has ruled out Italy....and by extension Juventus.

So that leaves six clubs by the agent's own yardstick.

Real, Barcelona, PSG (btw, a very wealthy club but hardly a "world power" in footballing terms), Chelsea, United and City.

So if it was not one of those clubs the agent would look rather silly.

But...."things are changing at Everton"......:)

That is his get out of jail free card.

Rom is staying ;)

Now let our Russian enforcer speak to young Master Stones's people

You missed out Bayern Khal ;)
