Lookman ‘has to be moved up next year,’ says Brands

I agree we have some real talented youngsters ATM & we must be patient with their progress...
DCL,Kenny &Holgate made good progress last year as did Tom Davies..

Lookman will get more game time next season but we must not expect too much too soon...

DCL did fairly well in terms of bringing others in to play but can't shoot, Kenny got skinned a few times but tries hard (don't think he's good enough), Holgate looked good at times but makes a few mistakes and Davies had a poor season.

Lookman is the best out of them and he could barely get in the team.

I do like Lookman but Holgate was the pick of our CBs last season (admittedly that is like being the best team in the north-east, but still). He was playing well - even making Williams look decent at times - then he appeared to get racially abused and then he got dropped. Of the many, many baffling decisions that the then manager took that one was the one that wound me up the most.

As for Lookman he really should be first team material, unless we sign that mexican lid and/or Bolasie gets more consistent.

I agree Holgate was a bit hard done by. I don't know how good he will be but he seemed to be learning and improving the more games he got, didn't deserve to be dropped considering how poor most of our other CB's were.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't think Kenny is going to make it but who knows, Coleman looked a bit iffy when he first played regularly. A lot of it will be about how quickly they learn from their mistakes.

Davies I think is a decent squad player but I don't he's ever going to be a great player. He works hard and does have some skill but he's not gifted enough to become a great player, imo.

With DCL I worry about his shooting. People say he's still young, which he is, but most top strikers are instinctive finishers. He doesn't seem like that although he works well for the team and can run at defenders and lay the ball off well.

Holgate is going to have to play under Silva. Silva teams tend to move the ball around quite a bit at the back to either his DCMs, who can usually carry it a bit, or out to attacking outside backs.

Lookman should be first team regardless. Even if we get Chucky Lozano, which I hope we do, even if we don't bin Bolasie, there's a role there. He can play inside or out. Chucky/Walcott/Lookman/Gylfi/Bolasie/Dowell for 3 spots behind the striker - send Vlasic on loan, sell Rooney.

It’s all good Brands saying that, but I question whether Lookman actually wants to come back and play for us at this point.

By all accounts he did not settle in the area, and certainly the way we treated him won’t have helped with him building an affinity with the club.

The question we should be asking is not do Everton want Lookman, but rather does Lookman want Everton.

I fear the answer at this point is No

The way Sam and Walsh treated him, not the club. I'm sure he's not stupid enough to think Silva/Brands are the same. Anyway he's contracted till 2021 and I highly doubt he will be bid for this summer either. The 'bigger' clubs will wait to see if he's consistently performing in the PL.
He'll get to play under Silva for at least one season.

For the left/right:
Lozano/Walcott/Lookman

Centre: Sigurdsson/Lookman/Dowell/Vlasic

Well stocked...

We mustn’t go overboard as he’s done nothing as yet, but the lad seems to have talent. BFS letting him go the way he did was a disgrace, but may actually have benefitted the lad and EFC.....I hope he has a cracking season ahead of him.....

HE ASKED TO GO ON LOAN!!!!

I really don't think it's overboard. Perfectly natural to be excited about such a clearly talented young player, the problem is at the other end. I just wish fans had the ability to go overboard about a player but not tear them down if they don't meet expectations.

Personally, I hope to see Lookman in the first team loads next season. I struggle to think of any player we've had since Pienaar who can dribble past opposing players and create unexpected openings, Lookman seems to have it

He`s under contract mate, so hasn`t really got much choice.

He's an exciting player to watch, and I always feel he's capable of doing something special and making a positive impact on games. I look forward to seeing him get some extended playing time for us next season.
