Looking likely that top 5 will be needed for Europe.

If the FA Cup winners finish in the top 4 then their spot goes to the Cup runner up. If they finish 5th then their spot goes to the 6th placed team. If the runners up AND winners have already qualified for Europe via the league then the spot goes to the next highest team in the league.

The chances of 6th place being a Europe spot are looking slim.

nah, so long as we win it we'll be sound.

Right. Still a long way to go anyway. If we do get 6, we're basically leaving it as a 50/50 chance then for getting in - depending who the two finalists in FA Cup are (hopefully - we're one of them!). If it's City vs United - we're good. If it's City vs. Brighton - we're up the creek.

Had it as top five originally, dunno why i changed it.

Chelsea ain't going to win by three at Swansea.

I wouldn't have expected Swansea to win by 2 tonight.

I think it is just as likely a Villa v Chelsea as it is Bradford v Swansea final.

Just from a neutral footballing perspective I'd love a Bradford v Swansea final. But for Europe I would indeed prefer Chelsea to storm it.

The negativity is making me sick!
Nothing out there suggests that Spurs and Arsenal WILL finish above us, especially not Arsenal. Any money Spurs have a massive dip like they did last season, any money.

We just need to get our headsdown and keep winning lad. All we can do is that and hope for a bit of luck when needed!

Not sure how saying it's going to be difficult to get into Europe when we're competing with teams who have more money to spend this January and already have stronger squads is 'negative'. That's realistic...

Swansea winning 2-0 just now means that Chelsea will need to score at least 3 in the second leg to make it possible for the League Cup EL spot to go to 6th place. Not likely.

The FA Cup would have to be contested in the final by two top five teams for that European spot to go to 6th, again not likely.

Forget 4th, we could be lucky to get into Europe at all...

two of the top 6 actually - this is presuming we will finish as expected in the top 6 along with man utd, citeh, chelski, arse and spurs.

9 days into the window, wait and see, then you can say whether or not we have a realistic chance.
