Yes, which makes it even more moronic to be demolishing social distancing.

It's a clueless infantile reflex.

Either people agree institutional racism exists in the UK or you don't, its that black and white, no grey to play games in.

How people of colour attain the same equality as I have as a white person in the 2020 UK is entirely down to them, I'm not going wag my left or right finger from my privileged position.

It's not a binary choice mate. You can be 100% anti-racist but not support the threat that these demos pose to human life.

Blacks and whites (and grey areas). This virus doesn't give a flying one; it'll just take up lives when presented with the opportunity to do so, and these protests assist it.

It's not "only black people protesting being singled out" for protesting, it's everyone. And two wrongs dont make a right. It's up to us to ignore the indiscipline and policy changes of this murderous government, NOT make their job any easier to crrate more death and mayhem.

The most radical thing anyone can do right now is to sit tight and not get involved in normalising movement and contact again at this very dangerous stage.

It's really easy to understand this point of view, but let me underline it for you and others: imagine you are part of the 2 million officially vulnerable group. Now tell me what you would think seeing the type of trampling through social distancing you;ve seen in the last few days.

Exactly.

To be honest, I think what I think now, that we are living in an absolute shambles and that ultimately a fish rots from the head. I would understand, that given what we've seen over recent weeks it's inevitable people will protest.

Yes, it's frustration with the weeks of inactivity. And the BLM issue is just the vehicle for it.

The protests are not about compassion, though. How could they be when the protestors know that their own actions risk spreading a virus to the most vulnerable?

Yes for sure. There needs to be a serious debate about Churchill, the flag etc too. A debate where "traitors" and words like that are left out. We've had 10+ years in schooling now of uncritically promoting British history, it doesn't work and it's insulting (not least to those we are promoting). If he were alive today, I'm sure Churchill would not want some of his blemishes white washed (mind the pun).

I am not in favour of defacing statues, and Churchills role in WW2 should be worthy of enormous praise. I have a similar thing with Cromwell, lots of remarkable things, but also awful things. I think we have to be more nuanced how they are taught.
are you sure that reply was meant for my post? I don't necessarily disagree with you, I just feel it's a bit irrelevant to my post

We've had weeks of the government telling us everything is fine, that we are beating the illness etc. It' eventually starts sinking in. People don't really understand the scale of the problem.

Maybe so, but that's far from what I was suggesting.
I know mate. But some on here are of the view that mentioning two things in the same post you are in effect comparing them. Used to get it all the time in young player threads and it's infuriating

The virus clearly does give a flying one it has a preference for killing ethnic minorities, hence the anger in BAME community. They have gone for scorched earth policy of protest rather than being cajoled back in normality with Yes sir Mr Johnson, anything you say Mr Johnson sir... Good for them, it's now 2020.

It's nothing to do with preference and rather the susceptibility of infection and the severity of the impact due to a variety of conditions be that medical or social.

By virus, you mean COVID-19 don't you? To say it is a preference would suggest there is a prejudicial choice who it infects or impacts.
