Current Affairs London Protests

You have to say Trump really poured petrol on the fumes,
I know it does not seem very important in these testing times but we really need to do something about these conceptual metaphors. Yesterday we had someone "smelling of the proverbial" and now this. It is getting too much.

People have been protesting for black rights for decades it hasn’t just suddenly happened.

Funny how it suddenly cropped up the last few days mate.

If this murder happened in the UK and we had the same extent of ingrained racial issues the US has - I would be in full support of a peaceful protest (after this virus malarkey is hopefully over) but the nature in how the fringe of idiots have turned it sour and dissolved its intended meaning have pushed me away from it.

Winning the hearts and minds of a nation isnt burning flags, rioting, attacking innocent people/animals, having celebrities tell people not to shop in white peoples businesses & defacing a Churchill memorial around the time we remember the brave soliders of the war.

Sadly those from the far left in the media have helped fan the flames for this in the same way those in the far right media pushed lies for Brexit & hijacked the rotherham grooming scandal for their own racist agenda.

The real enemy to this country is the far left & far right - two institutions who play off the majority of working class of all colour for their own aims whilst the elite continue to exploit and profit off it.

I think there's a lot of angles and that's certainly one of them. I mean in honesty people like that really don't do the cause much good. I know BLM are getting a lot of stick for it, but I am not sure thats their politics at all. I saw a young teenage girl try to stop people hurling missiles at the police today. Of course the main commentary is that the people throwing them are scum, but there's very little to commend the bravery of that young woman. In moments like this, bravery like that gives me hope (and is a powerful symbol as any of the nonsense of racism).

I do also think the governments response to Covid has harmed us here. Essentially re-writing the rule book for Cummings has meant lots of people seem to think the rules don't apply to them.I was in town yesterday, and a fella was given a parking ticket, and went on a massive tirade to the parking attendant that the rules don't apply because of Dominic Cummings. Whether you blame Cummings, or the individuals involved what can't be denied is it seems to have translated as "I can do what I want". You can't govern like that. We can't function as a society if everyone just does what they want.

And yes, even if a government advisor breaks the rules and refuses to accept it, it doesn't make it right for you to do so. At some point people have to take ownership of their own actions.

We feel in a big mess though. I suspect we will see Brexit whipped up soon to try and further the divides, when we really now need someone to get a grip of the situation before it escalates further.

The Cummings things thing is a complete red herring. No one thought ‘hey, he can drive to protect his family, so I’ll just go to the beach or march around London’....complete bs.....makes for a nice political story but ask anyone who was previously observing the lockdown if it made them go out. The only ones who will quote it were the ones going out anyway......

I think his behaviour, and his refusal to just accept he was wrong has had a very big impact actually. I'm really surprised they played it the way they did.

I look at us now, and we are in a bad place. We've had conga lines, street parties, punch up on beaches, mass protests, football starts next week etc. How has it been allowed to get to this point, with the death rate as it is? Do we honestly think, we are not going to see football fans congregating at grounds?

No fair point mate. I mean I did try to put certain caveats into the response and make clear I was commenting on what evidence we had. I'm sure there's a much bigger narrative. As I've said, I hope the officer is ok. As a country we need to look closely at what is fuelling this anger and start trying to heal divisions that have been allowed to fester for too long.
Really cannot see that happening any time soon with current Government.
