Current Affairs London Protests

A building frequently used for contests that included slaves and where they were often unfairly slain?
The difference I personally have with the Colosseum is that it is genuinely a really good mini museum, with lots of literature on site about its history. It is truly an engineering marvel as well, again with lots of detail readily at hand to describe it.

However lots of statues have no such educational material around then, just a plaque, and are often pretty gross to look at to boot.

I mean if you get down to it and you agree with mobs removing statues you aren't democratic. I guess it would only be natural for anybody who believed in democracy to feel revulsion at the scenes. Agree with if the statues should stay or not surely the majority of people here dont support mobs?

There is no such thing as democracy.

Not really anyway...

OK but what shall we do about the statues of Lord Nelson? What if we find out there is a highly likely chance Francis Drake murdered a dozen black people, King George had slaves, Wellington was a notorious racist and as for Eric Clapton's blue plaque...

Where are we drawing the line here?
Well the line would be drawn in this case for people whose main legacy was almost exclusively based on slavery which as far as I know isn't true of the others. I don't believe slave traders should have statues. Extrapolating that, if your main legacy is something that is universally now understood as bad, you probably shouldn't have a statue.

Because already it’s started with that kid in Dublin Yesterday getting stabbed numerous times and battered by a gang of black lads. I know it’s all races protesting but it’s still going to cause racial hate more than it was a couple of weeks ago.

It’s rioting not protesting

Well it's both to be fair. Not everyone is rioting are they?

The racial hate was there already. None of this will turn someone racist all of a sudden (although...)
