I don’t think politics should be anywhere near football. Why the PL feel the need to jump on the bandwagon I don’t know.

I don't think supporting NHS workers is a political issue.

And like I said, I think it is to help NHS workers feel supported and a bit happier. I don't think that is a bandwagon, just a good cause.

Of course the NHS is political. it’s like all the happy clapper stuff. Clapping for a broken institution.

So, you support pressure that forces people to oppose anti-oppressive behaviour? Do you not see the irony here?
Maybe someone like Suarez will be noble and refuse to take the knee to support racial equality like a reverse Kaepernick moment. It's a strong gesture, I'm pretty sure the players are happy to take it. I'm not sure why anyone would refuse. At the very least in solidarity for their team mates

Then that enemy is extremely small in this country so makes you wonder why wage a war on it at all?

Perhaps, the enemy isn't as you say, but the enemy is people who choose to hold opposite beliefs. Are holding opposite beliefs a crime now in this day and age?

Now look, in terms of the specific topic in here , a complete opposition to , well not being racist is what is always going to be an issue we need to hope fades in the generations to come.

But , extreme intolerance? That for me I have a sticking point with , how do you define it, how do you measure it.

At what point do you start to blur the lines between hate and simply opinion?

You may be right. Who's to say? I doubt there's been a head count.

Definition: more about characteristics, I think. simplistic slogans, casual and targeted violence, cartoon politics (good guys / bad guys with no shading) a determination that the other must always look, think, behave like me and mine at whatever cost.

Many clubs through their players are now political. Coleman agmonst others was named yesterday by Chris Powell (England coach on Radio 5 live), as a key member of making this taking the knee happen. If clubs are expected to be doing things in the community that the state can no longer do, a byproduct of that is players and such like will become political, either by the chance it affords or enlightenment, probably both...

Completely agree with this.

This specific situation is separate from that anyway as these aren't political issues. Asking for equality for black people is not and should not be political, it is a case of basic human rights that everyone should support regardless of political leanings. And the NHS badge is in support of what they have done over the past 3 months, not a political statement on whether it should exist or levels of funding etc.

I completely agree btw.
I’m just pointing out how ludicrous it is to have a problem with the BLM statement made by clubs but not have a problem with the NHS badge.
You make a statement on a shirt it *is* political. And there are always going to be elements of any organisation that you don’t agree with. That doesn’t mean you can’t still support it.
BLM are fundamentally for racial equality. Putting the statement on shirts is raising awareness in a peaceful way. And people still take issue over it. Which is why people ended up ripping down statues (because people rejected peaceful protest and it didn’t work).
Also, supporting BLM doesn’t mean you have to agree with all their methods.
In the same way you can support the NHS and specifically the workers but still not agree with elements of it.

We bring about change through politics, all Human rights are brought into our lives by political process it's only through politics they can be enshrined in law etc. Events outside politics bring pressure, like George Floyd. However, much energy by the UK BLM was brought about by our Government omissions in the COVID report that covered ethnicity, a political misstep that has brought home loads of positive pressures...
