As Troy Townsend said this morning- 40% of footballers in the league are BAME, yet that doesn’t translate across to management.

There’s quite clearly an issue.

Its a vicious cycle really.

Many of these managers are going around in a merry-go-round. Loses a job somewhere, rocks up somewhere else. A lot of clubs are fighting for something be it promotion, relegation or monetary issues. Without a black manager (I haven't even included other ethnicities, that's another issue) being given a chance to get on the merry go round clubs are always going to try and go for a proven manager (even though most of them are proven to be rubbish).

The black managers who are in the game also seem to be on the merry go round, Keith Curle has had a fair few clubs so far, so has Chris Hughton, Dino Maamria has came through the ranks lower down too.

It's always a tough one for me this. I think a bigger issue is there are not even many backroom staff who are black. That's where a lot of opportunity comes from (Darren Moore for example).

I found the recent Dwight Yorke interviews to be quite telling, he has not received an offer from anywhere despite having his badges since 2010 and is having to look at some off the radar locations to get a job. Yorke had a very successful career and always comes off as being an intelligent to me and Alex Ferguson was happy to give him a recommendation yet not one team has made a move for him.

Stop equating your everyday issues to them of black people facing discrimination on a regular basis.

The examples you’re giving to try and put across how bad you’ve had it is pitiful.

Ok mate the UK is massively racist and I spend my spare time stopping everyone who isn't as pasty as me from having a shred of enjoyment on these island shores.

That better?

Approx figures but

average rangers salary £17,000 pw
Average league one salary £1700-2500 pw

Ive edited it

If a championship player wants an SPL player they move mate - Celtic and particulary Rangers are nowhere near the strength of what they were in the 90's.

Gerrard is a media idol aswell thanks to his RS connections yet he never got a "big" job.

The SPL is a joke these days.

There are middle grounds...

The UK is not racist in a lets all kill minorities way generally.

What it does suffer from is massive amounts of ignorance, a lot of which has bubbled to the surface to a pretty disturbing degree over the past few years mainly due to it being seemingly OK to be casually racist again now.

Why do they all seem to be wearing the same clothes?

I am taking a wild guess that Hoddeston, where ever it is, is Brexit Central.

And if they cant tell the difference between a war memorial and a statue of a slave trader, well, obviously clever "lads"

I would say the ignorance is on both sides though.

For every uneducated bigot who is racist there is those social warrior types who think everything and everyone is racist.

Sadly the majority of us in the middle ground who call it as they see it are stuck with the daft point scoring that goes on from both sides.

Is that BAME inclusive or exclusive of foreign nationals? That can be something which skews it quite a bit as getting a Work Permit as a coach could be a problem and does a little to contextual it outside of the black/white immediate issue.

The big bit of coaching is networking, hence why Arteta is back at Arsenal, Lampard at Chelsea so the completely different backgrounds does go a way to explain it too from a cultural sense (does an owner find it easier to relate to someone from a cosy middle class family or a lad from Brixton for example).

There’s probably far more to it than just a binary black:white issue, some of which will overlap with concerns in coaching circles anyway (not always the best man for the job, but someone’s mate or ex-player)

You are not in the middle ground. You are saying that institutional racism doesn’t exist. That is not, in any way, the middle ground.

The "social warrior types" are fighting against the uneducated bigots though, they are not fighting against everyone.

I don't think there is a middle ground.
