i posted this the other day about the authoritarian personality. it is something we are seeing platformed a lot these days when previously they were ridiculed. maybe some of u may recognize some of these traits buddies.

- A need for strong leadership which displays uncompromising power
- A belief in simple answers and polemics - i.e. The media controls us all or The source of all our problems is the loss of morals these days.
- Resistance to creative, dangerous ideas. A black and white worldview.

I genuinely saw a comment on Facebook the other day of someone saying “why is calling the British Brits okay, but calling Pakistanis... (I don’t need to elaborate) not okay?”
Obviously their grammar and spelling was worse than the above
You see this is the thing.
POC have to tell their children that they are going to experience racism because that is their reality. They have to prepare their children for it because it will happen to them.
I get to decide when I can talk to my child about it. I get to decide whether they are mature enough.
POC don’t have that choice. They need to talk about it as soon as possible to prepare their children for what they experience.

Used to like the lad but he's shown himself up to be no better than Tommy Robinson during this. Think he has made racist comments in the past aswell which were brushed under the rug.

But there is a difference between some uneducated bloke being racist and a country/society that actively goes out of its way to prevent minorities from living a happy life.
I haven't a problem with BAME telling their kids to watch out for far right idiots - but I have a problem with them telling them that they'll never get a job, succeed or achieve anything because the country is racist.
The former prepares them for encountering uneducated scumbags
The latter creates a self fulfilling prophecy which dooms alot of working class BAME to falling down the cracks.
The issue alongside poverty in working class white & black children is that they dont value education because they dont believe they are clever/good enough.
Im thick as mince but I put the hard work in and got my qualifications whereas a good few mates of mine who grew up on my council estate (both white and black) never took education seriously and since school have been unemployed/agency work and one or two has been in and out of prison for drug offences.
I just think in society we look for excuses for why people struggle - Sol Campbell cant get a Premier league managers job - but Chris Hughton and Darren Moore can so is it racism or is it just he wasnt good enough in the interview process?

If a term is felt to be racist by the recipient then it's correct that it's then not used but it is confusing when people use the term "Yid" or how black people use the "N" word about themselves. It does muddy the waters.
Years ago when in Australia I learned it's the same there to not use the old often used abbreviation for Aboriginal people.

Who really knows but I think he's comments at one of the rally's did nothing to help with community relations.

no, they are telling them they’ll have to work twice as hard, that they should consider their hairstyle in the work place, that maybe they should consider a more ‘English’ sounding name for their own children as it will likely be better on their CV.
I’ve been told loads of times to soften my accent. As it’s better for clients. And it’ll help me progress. It has no bearing on how well I can do my job or how bright i am.
Prejudice exists at all levels for loads of reasons. Racism is one of those prejudices. Ignoring them doesn’t make them go away. Acknowledging them. Talking about them. Exploring the differences. Empathy and understanding. Communication. Acceptance.
that’s how you battle it.
