Loan fees

If we buy him (hypothetical) on a four year deal at £20m, that's £5m a year? Yes.

If we loan him for a year at £5m, and the repeat three times, that's £20m too (Hypothetical, I know).

The ever so slight difference between the two is that if we BUY him, we can at some point SELL him to recover some of the outlay. You can't sell a player that has been loaned to you by another club, so you cannot recover the outlay.

Did you really not think of that yourself?

Im working on the basis of him seeing out his contract, then walking.

There is no way Barry's loan fee would have cost 5m, we could have brought him for less than that. If Victor Moses loan fee was only 1m, Chelsea wanted 3m for Demba Ba so there's no way Barry would cost 5m, maybe 5m if you add his fee and the seasons worth of wages but there's no way his fee was 5m. I reckon if Chelsea wanted 3m for Ba then they would expect the same for Lukaku so I would tthink Lukaku's fee would have been 3m.

There's literally more chance of me sleeping with scarlett johansen than the chances of lukaku's loan fee being £5m.
