I'm intrigued in how it will bankrupt the UK as well @peteblue

Majority of the carbon capture projects are going to be funded by the end users themselves. We could be a world leader on that front.

Fracking is what i think will get pushed when in reality we should be going down the route of Green Hydrogen production and Nuclear SMR's.

Totally agree with the Nuclear option. It is disgraceful that governments have ignored it for so long……

You need a few Tories in here otherwise it's just a Labour echo-chamber.

Both parties would be wise to listen more to people who don't just blindly support them.
Enough independents/Lib Dems/SNPs can keep it from being an echo chamber, but the discussion is improved by the addition of some Tories provided that they possess reasoning capacity. Recognition of the fact that Truss is a human dumpster fire strongly suggests reasoning capacity.

I'm still bent out of shape by the fact that the Tories actually let her sit down across from Lavrov without her knowing that Rostov is part of Russia. This is literally why handlers exist.

that was the one she admitted to, the other rumoured one (mentioned in that leaked document) was with another MP who is very prominent in her campaign, and likely her cabinet
Quasimodo (Quasi to his mates) was a fictional character in the Hunchback of Notre-Damme

A Quart is an imperial measure of volume, equal to a quarter of a gallon.

Eng (Ŋ) is a letter in the Latin alphabet.

Knew she’d target energy bills, and simply win over millions a by doing so.

The reality is, even a simple cut of energy by say 20% is still us grossly overpaying, but the Tories will come away smelling of roses once again, whilst the rich get richer.

We're constantly told it's the wholesale prices which is a reasoning I can understand. But I still don't understand the massive hikes in standing charges being anything but industry wide price gouging now they've purged those pesky smaller companies like Bulb etc.

Somebody will have to educate me here but what would have happened to the big energy companies had the price cap remained the same as last year or only being moderately raised by something like 10%?

If the message was you've been raking in record profits for years on end so you're going to have to take this temporary hit during this "energy crisis" if you wish to remain in the UK market and benefit from the same profits again in the future. Would all these energy companies have gone bust or walked away from the UK market forever?

Would the expense and expertise required to renationalise suppliers who hypothetically left the market have been more costly than £100B loans that are just going to be given to energy companies as subsidies to an already booming market?

Not impressed with the reported action on energy bills.

They are not really being frozen.
We will still pay for it one way or another.
The energy companies making massive profits will get away scot free!!

More Tory bollox if you ask me.
Rank & file Tories like myself are up in arms about it too pal. Pretty much only Liz Truss and her wing of the parliamentary party think it's a good idea.

One harsh winter is all it will take for even the most absent-minded to realise this policy is rubbish. The question is will the absent-minded Tory MPs realise it in time to oust her, or will she be ousted after losing the GE because the 80-seat majority Johnson built is swept away by hundreds of thousands of angry voters.

Which is what the current forecasts are Indicating.
