Johnson created a public persona and was given plenty of opportunity to promote his brand on TV and in friendly print media.

Promoting the “Boris” brand from his time as London mayor, many embraced the buffoonish caricature as a contrary disruptor to the establishment. Voters were on first name, pub friendly terms with him, or so they were allowed to think.

With the aid of the tame media again, his obvious failings, character flaws and general unsuitability for public office were kept hidden from view.

Johnson was and remains a thoroughly dishonest, uncaring, lazy, wretch of a human being.

Anyone suggesting he be allowed back to a position of power is still buying the cynical marketing, not the man and ignoring the evidence of their own eyes and ears.
Oh Johnson was very very clever, he crafted ver years a very clear image which is a staple of British society (the likeable buffoon) be it Jeeves and Wooster, Lord Melchott or any one of a number of literary characters.

When done well, by a clever enough person, it can be a great way to gain or maintain popularity despite doing rather dislikeable actions.

Funnily enough Ian Hislopp whilst ridiculing him constantly when he was on the show, in large part made Johnson popular with the average voter by giving him a platform for people to get to know this 'loveable buffoon'

No I’m not…Team Mordaunt…Truss and her ex chancellor haven’t really covered themselves in glory, she’ll be gone soon…..

The Tory party at Westminster are currently committing political suicide. It’ll be good to throw them out, deselect a whole bunch of them and start again. There comes a time with every political organisation where the ingrates are blinded by their own ego’s and pomposity. This group needs removing and starting afresh…..

Haha the understatement of the Century there Pete "Truss and the ex Chancellor haven't really covered themselves in glory". Really...lollollol
Oh my sides.

There was a major and intelligent effort by Johnson to craft an image of himself. That's his great strength, to get himself in the right place at the right time.

He manipulates the media to sa everyone love him, despite people chanting swear words about him at various sporting events, and polling showing he is grossly unpopular. It's a classic case of a guy those in the Westminster bubble think everyone loves, and want everyone to love, but it sort of shows how out of touch they are.

When the Mail and Express want a tory PM gone you know something is seriously wrong.
The tories will bring her down first chance they get.
Personally I hope she stays around a while the longer she is in power the more certain we get a labour government.
She’ll be gone on 6 months. Whoever comes in next has to look better. Think it will be that Mordaunt
