I can't say that truly wins me over. Your position I think is that Islam has its radicals like any other religion, but its no worse than others. I just fundamentally disagree, and I think the issue of islamic fundamentalism bears this out. Islamic societies are ALL repressive some obv worse than others, not just a few. Which of their societies could a jew live in safety without fear of assassination? Gays? How do women fare in such places? Is there freedom of speech, in any of them?

Does that not fit this country too for god's sake?

What is your definition of an Islamic society? All religion is repressive in some form or other. So is society in general actually. Freedom of Speech is not a real thing.

Christianity isn't great when it comes to gay people and women either to be fair and their whole religions is based on killing the "king of the Jews."

I think there is a big misconception between being Muslim and "being" muslim. In the same way that most western people are put in the "christian" bucket even though their beliefs are incredibly varied.

It took a fair few centuries, to be fair and there's still a way to go. There are a fair few things about Islamic culture that does not sit right with me but I'm not going to villify a whole religion based on this. This argument has moved from Islamic Extremists to Islamic Culture and we never even noticed the goalposts moving. ?
