just hope we don't do what we always and go into the big away games like cowards and hope for the best, go toe to toe with them theyre not even that good

Ronkoe knows how to beat these. Before McCarthy got injured in the home fixture we were playing fantastically, pressing them all over the pitch and not giving them a second to play. Once we nullify their threat and they get frustrated and push more players forward, we hit them on the break with Rom, Kev, Ross, Tom and it's over.

Imagine the scenes if Ross or Tom get a winner at the pit...

Tom has form from his mini Derby appearances

Whilst thats right and we had stopped them playing and where winning the battle so to speak, we had created the grand total of nothing in the home game against them - even before McCarthy got injured mate, we also did so by putting so much into the first half that the team was shattered second half (not helped by McCarthy going off ofc)

True. I felt that if we'd have been able to keep that up for longer, which maybe we could've with James instead of Barry on the pitch we would've created chances in the second half

We may have mate, i still think we set out with the idea of stopping them playing to the detriment of our own game though, hence when we did stop them we weren't countering effectively, need a balance betwene stopping them and still being dangerous ourselves

Same at Spurs away, we went out to stop them playing as the sole objective rather than stopping them to allow ourselves to capitalise on their weaknesses.

I absolutely HATE derby day with a passion . I always get a sick feeling in my stomach and always have a sense of inevitability with the outcome , us not playing to our potential and simply freezing . We HAVE to play on the counter attack and hit these beauts after soaking up the early pressure . We are long overdue some luck , any kind of luck , but I say this all the time in the build up so I hold no hope really . They are beatable as other teams at the pit have proved so it's all about self belief and standing tall to the unique challenge of a derby game . Come on Everton , let's have these horrible , deluded mutants in their own cesspool that is analfield . Nil Satis Nisi Optimum !!!!

This game really is meaningless really.

If we win we go three behind 4th, which united probably would change with their 2 in hand anyway. So it won't necesserily bring us closer to top 4 and 8th is all but a distant memory.

In terms of the future, again not really a marker beyond the feeling of finally getting a derby victory (7 years now is it?). Next season will be another transitional year for us so fully expect them lot to be around us again, so personally i am not getting my hopes up on a derby win equals the future etc.

Look, we have a great opportunity to close a bit of a gap on them again and throw our name in the hat for that 4th place, even if we are only peering on it from the other side of the river for the time being. A win at Analfield though would hopefully shock our season into a fantastic run in however with the mantle of a analfield win behind the players they can play with their heads up.

So beat them eh everton? bout time we did.

I honestly believe the difference between morgan schneiderlin and gareth barry is a win and a (potentially heavy) defeat. If Barry starts we're in trouble
