If Jagielka is fit I'd bring him in to a central back three. At least with him and Holgate we have a bit of pace then.

Play Lennon as a right wing back, drop Kenny.

Midfield three of Davies, Gana and Rooney. Sigg behind DCL up top.

If Baines if fit he can come back in on the left.

Pickford
Holgate Jagielka Williams
Lennon Davies Rooney Gana Martina
Sigurdsson
DCL

??????

Why?!?

Liverpool has absolute no target player. Play the quickest guys you have in the back. Just afraid Holgate will do something stupid.

Sam loves games like this I bet he is licking his lips at prospect of turning klopp over .. seems a lot of you are already beat but I’m sure hel have the Everton players ready for this ..should be a lot closer than a lot of blues seem to think this time round

It's a defence mechanism from years of getting bummed by them no matter the state of the respective teams form etc coming into these games mate.

Think the game only goes one of two ways myself, either they run all over us - and Allardyce can't do anything about individuals bottling it and freezing, OR we actually roll back to the days when we get right into them and drag them into a game they won't want - a battle so to speak.

Need to have someone go right through both salah and mane early doors as well, ref won't want to give a early booking out during this - so have a chance to leave something on both and set a mark for the ref letting a lot of things go - which would suit us.

Them at the back - no matter how many mistakes they make in prior games, always seem to have one of those games no one 'f's up - hopefully that changes - as if they make an early mistake with Lovren and Moreno then it could unsettle them and give us a massive boost

Can honestly say that my view is we could play this game over and over again 100 times; we'd lose 99 of them and fluke a draw once.

I can't see a win under any circumstance. Not because we are bad as such, but because we are absolutely made for them with the balance of the current side. A defence guilty of unforced errors and little to no pace to counter them with.

So the question for me isn't "do Everton lose?", it's more "how many do we lose by?"

Allardyce will help with that tbf, can't see our cb's giving them anything as they will just be instructed to smash it into the channels for DCL or Niasse to chase down.

Not gonna be pretty - but will prove a lot more effective than trying to have Williams etc play football the way they will be pressing from the front all game.

To get anything from this we need to not give them anything for free, one of their defenders will have to have one of those days, and we will need Rooney or Sigurdsson to turn up with something special (set piece etc)

Keep them out for the first 45 and nick a goal and it'll put them into a situation they are in no way used to against us mate.

They also just haven't been conceding at Anfield - and going behind will test them to see if they are different this year.

All that aside though - i'm fully prepared for them tearing us apart and running up a big score

Sort of game where I feel we're an outside chance. They don't have a genuine CF, which helps Holgate, I'd back Kenny to contain Mane, Gana to contain Coutinho. The worry is Salah vs Martina.. .

Hopefully he plays tonight against Spartak and someone goes right through him

Bodies behind the ball, give no room behind the defence for Salah to exploit. Bottle things up for as long as possible and we're right in this game.

Coutinho is the one who could upset that plan, so I'd be inclined to ask someone to do a man marking job on him fir the afternoon. My choice would be Tom Davies.

My formation would be something like:

Sam can't lose because if we do get humped he just turns round and says Well that's why I'm here! He's still protected by the honeymoon period.

Either that mate or ffs for once don't allow him to turn onto his right foot, sick of the fact game after game against these our defenders actually show him onto the right, Pennington last year being the classic example...
