Are you sick of the fact we can see their monstrosity of a new stand from everywhere in the city?

The morning after the night before, having had time for reflection.

A collection of individuals, not a team. Without a leader on the pitch.

No collective working on the pitch at all, whether in a midfield battle, going forward, or defending. Example: Barkley made a storming run in the first half to the left edge of their penalty area. The only players initially within 20 yards of him were all wearing red shirts... Blue shirts arrived a few seconds leter (too late), almost as an afterthought.

No apparent coaching of players. Witness the number of times Barkley held on to the ball instead of giving a first-time pass and moving on into space. Trying instead to do sonething clever or smart. Their third goal was classic testament to that. Stones had an easy 'out' pass to Oviedo to his right, but no, tries the smart pass forward to a midfielder who was already tightly marked, they gained possession, were on our back four in a couple of seconds, and scored. Jeez, I would have bellowed at my Sunday League team for a cock-up like that!

If you are a massive 'keeper like Robles, you HAVE to command your 6-yard box. The first goal was inexcusable. As soon as the cross was hit, ever before it even reached the penalty area, he should have taken three or fours steps and then caught the ball comfortably. Anything in the air in the 6-yard box, the keeper gets there first, either to punch clear, or catch. That is basic. Anything else, and you are in trouble, as we have seen time after time after time this season. No need to mention specific games - this is down to basic goalkeeper coaching.

I think, and sincerely believe it is so, that the Board are simply waiting to the end of the season before drawing a line under Martinez's tenure. I think they believe that the FA Cup, of itself, will provide the necessary stimulus on the pitch. Beyond the last game, I hope to see a decisive Board getting a strong, proven, Manager on board who will galvanise the best of the squad, unload the dross, and bring in quality players who can indeed move the club forward in the forthcoming seasoins.

I will now retire to a neutral corner and weep...

If thats the case, release some of the tension by coming out now and saying he is leaving at the end of the season, winning the cup or not. Do what Celtic done.

The silence is getting a little bit too much, make a statement either say he is staying to the end of the seasons or he is leaving now. they can't let this go on for longer.

I wish they would, but I don't see it happening.

I would be happy to see Duncan Ferguson and David Unsworth get each of them by the throat (literally) and shake them up into performing full-tilt, non-stop, fo 90 minutes, such as the '95 team in that Final against the Mancs. But I can't see it happening...

....there is quite a bit of criticism of what Celtic have done. I said a while back that it was worth considering a sacking ahead of these two games, I even looked on Oddschecker before last night's game for a price on RM as the 'next Premiership manager to leave'. From what has been said on here by folk much better placed than me we are already meeting with potential replacements. The inevitable is going to happen, it's just a matter of when.

My hope is that it's either after a semi loss or at the end of the season when he goes.

If that's the case, you can't really put that in a statement.

At least with those two we all know that Everton runs through their veins.

Moyes has a bit of a cheek, ok, he's working for sky but how many times did his sides bottle it against them at Anfield. I just hope he's not in the frame for the job when RM goes. We've lost lots of games this season but since the Arsenal game it appears obvious that the players are not playing for the manager, there's been no effort, commitment or passion. Fortunately we won't get relegated so at least that is something. Don't think the SF will be a massacre cause I don't think Man U are good enough to thrash anyone but I would put my house on them winning by a one or two goals, without reply of course. I'd love to know what's happened in the club over the past 6 weeks or so but I suppose it doesn't matter as long as we get rid of RM. I'm not convinced that will happen until next season. It should happen today.

HOORAH....!!!! ;)

Crap innit, that's our bonus for this season, the positive - prior to a semi - is we won't get relegated.

Pffff....

Imagine though - and I know he's not performing currently - but take away the LUKAKU input.

Sheeeesh...

We could have done worse than make him club captain.

Agreed. The only logical reason I can see for Martinez giving Naismith such short shrift is that there must have been personal issues. Not only was Naismith a 100%er but he got heavily involved in the community too, he had the makings of an Everton legend. Looking around I can't see many players with that passion now: Jags, Barkley, Coleman, Baines, McCarthy..... Lennon perhaps..... the rest mainly primadonnas who put money first, and that includes John Stones.

Everton anti-hero Glenn Keeley: I never even wanted to play in THAT match
Even Glenn Keeley's wife told him not to play against Liverpool

Glenn Keeley makes the long walk after being sent-off on his Everton debut
IT is one of the blackest days in the Blues history.

Everton’s record home defeat in a Merseyside derby, a 5-0 hiding which saw shell-shocked goalkeeper Neville Southall farmed out on-loan to Port Vale for four months – and one man left to carry the can.

But Everton anti-hero Glenn Keeley has revealed that he never wanted to play against Liverpool in November 1982.

The Blackburn defender he was nowhere near matchfit for a game against the reigning champions.

Even his wife told him “You can’t play in that game, you need a few more games.”

But Keeley did play, briefly. He was sent-off after 32 minutes for pulling back Kenny Dalglish by the shirt – and has even admitted he had no knowledge of the recently introduced rule where players would be sent off for so-called professional fouls.

Regarded as one of the greatest defenders in Blackburn Rovers’ long history, Keeley still vividly recalls that harrowing afternoon – and spoke about it to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph this week.

“There were things going on at Blackburn at the time, I’d been let down by the club in terms of wages and they’d also denied me the chance to move,” said Keeley, who turned 60 last year.

“So when Howard Kendall (a former Blackburn boss) called I went to have a look at them at a night game. I took my wife and as we sat there, she said, ‘what you think?’ I said, ‘it’s a poor side, but the last thing he needs is a centre-half, he needs to sort everything else out first’. But I took a chance because it was a big club.

Howard Kendall runs out onto the pitch in December 1981

“I signed on the Thursday, played in the reserves on the Saturday, and that was the first game I’d had in six months because I’d been in dispute with the club.

“Howard was desperate to change things and we had a practice game on the Monday. It went quite well and on the Tuesday he said, ‘I’m playing you Saturday against Liverpool’. And when he said that, I thought, ‘don’t be silly’. It was miles too soon because I wasn’t match fit. I needed more games under my belt. At the time I’d had a summer break, which was longer in those times, and then when I went back, Blackburn wouldn’t let me train, I was training on my own.

“So I was nowhere near natural game fit and, although the reserve game went okay, it was a reserve team game, and there’s massive difference between that and playing in what at that time was, and still is now, an unbelievably competitive, high-level derby.

“At the time Liverpool were clearly the best side in Europe and probably the world, but Howard always said to me, ‘you’re a big game player’, which I was. I enjoyed the big games and got myself up for them. However, I just knew I would struggle.

“But I knew with Howard he wasn’t the sort of man you’d say no to, but even my wife said, ‘you can’t play in that game, you need a few more games’.

“But I took a chance and that year they brought in the professional foul. I had no knowledge of it because I hadn’t played that season and when I pulled Dalglish back, I honestly expected to get a booking. So when I get sent off it came as a shock to me.

Centre-half Glenn Keeley

“That was that for me at Everton, but what was most disappointing for me, was that when I got back to Blackburn, they hadn’t told me was that there’d been another six clubs who had wanted me.

“If I’d gone to one of those clubs I would have turned around to their manager and said, ‘I need three of four reserve team games, just to start to get some match fitness, then two or three games of first-team football’, because you can’t just walk away from the game for six months and expect it work it out like that.”

Keeley returned to Rovers and, with bridges built, he resumed his rock-solid centre-back partnership with Derek Fazackerley.

He went on to make 418 appearances for the club and in March 1987 lifted the Full Members Cup after Colin Hendry, the 21-year-old signed by Mackay to replace him as skipper, scored late on to seal a memorable 1-0 Wembley win over Charlton Athletic.

Everton would soon be winning trophies themselves at Wembley – but without Glenn Keeley in their line-up ...

Thanks for this, great reading.

Looking at the two squads at the start of the season, there weren't many Liverpool players you would have taken. At the beginning of October we were disappointed with a draw against them. Even looking at the starting XIs last night there wasn't too much to pick between the sides on paper.

However Klopp coming in has changed their mentality completely, they have been inconsistent but they are putting together a good run to end the season on a high whilst we have limped our way over the 40 point mark.

Klopp has given them three things that we are lacking: hard work, belief and confidence.

Team being mismanaged by Martinez
Club being mismanaged by Kenwright
Moshiri must act to avoid disaster, acting manager till seasons end and get the players up for Saturday
Dont care if its Royle or Moyes but cant be anybody in the current Martinez management/coaching structure

I wouldn't mind seeing Big Dunc handed the role for the last few games.
