Should be a world football issue?*swiftly moves to current affairs
Personally I don't like how you have framed this.Marc Guehi reprimanded for writing ‘IJesus’ on his rainbow armband.
We’ve already seen backlash on our own IGG for electing not to wear one of these armbands as it supports a cause that is contrary to his religion and supports an illegal activity in his home nation.
In my humble opinion, the EPL needs to either knock it it on the head completely or allow the likes of Guehi to do what he did.
There shouldn’t be pressure on players to express open support for things that can be controversial in there private lives for fear of being ostracised, while at the same time suppressing religion

FA will remind Crystal Palace player Marc Guehi of rules over religious messaging after he played with 'I love Jesus' armband
"I love Jesus" was written on Crystal Palace player Marc Guehi's Premier League-issued LGBTQ+ campaign rainbow armband during a match at the weekend. The Football Association says a formal reminder will avoid the need for disciplinary action as the laws of football ban religious messaging.news.sky.com
This specific quote comes from the Old TestamentActually, there is: Leviticus 18:22
“Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; it is an abomination.”
How so?Personally I don't like how you have framed this.
I'm sorry that footballers are forced to support equal rights.
Pet projects yeah nice oneHow so?
You’ve highlighted one word in a sentence that actually said ‘There shouldn’t be pressure on players to express open support for things that can be controversial in their private lives’
What do find objectionable in that sentence?
And as you have brought up ‘equal rights’ doesn't Guehi have an equal right to express his religious beliefs along side one of the EPL’s pet projects?
Should be a world football issue?
It is about a premier league captain and his actions, it is clearly a football matter. It was in Ale House. I moved it to Current Affairs.
The title is inviting discussion around LGBTQ/Religion.
Sure, the first post references Guehi, but it'll no doubt move beyond that. As it already has.
Would he write 'i love jesus' on a normal captains armband? or only when it's a pride armband?
Very curious on what you mean by that loaded statement of "at the same time suppressing religion".
What religion is being suppressed here?
Leviticus is Old Testament - nothing to do with Jesus directly.Actually, there is: Leviticus 18:22
“Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; it is an abomination.”
Religion, politics, monarchy etc all made up to suppress and influence the weak. Always has and always will.I don't know, I don't watch football. Regardless, the point still remains - the PL/FA shouldn't be using players to push their political messaging, and leave them hanging out to dry if they don't push it, or complain when players make their own religious or political statements.
Imho that’s all it is, alongside their Kick it Out campaign.Pet projects yeah nice one
