Leighton Baines

Everyone is replaceable. We are Everton NOT Baines FC. One day he will leave by being sold or getting too old.

I would be happy to receive £15m for him if we got Bertrand. I think he would be a very good replacement, he's young-ish, English and should cost around £5-7 million which would leave us money for Bruno Martin Indi to replace Distin. If that was to happen Baines FC, I mean Everton FC would be stronger

Its a fair assessment, and a good shout if we got those two players for the price of a 29 year old. But I don't think its a case of 'Baines FC' its more that he's a top quality player (much better than Bertrand at this moment) and that we shouldn't be letting his type of quality go. I know we've done this time and again in recent history, but it doesn't mean we should be.

Its paper crap who's set up Unts winner yesterday = Evera and also the 15 million fee for the best left back in Europe regardless of age is laughable- 20 million is more like it! did we not turn down 15 million last time so why is it being used now by the sad Journo's????

It should have been resolved by now, a contract to see out his career at Everton and up to 100k per week. Everton must make it clear we want him to stay and not haggle over every last penny. What will happen is we fk it up big time he leaves in January Billy is happy with the cash and starts planning the sale of Barkley in the summer.

Baines is already well under contract so a new one would not make anything different to UNT to mount a bid contracts mean very little and who is to say Baines has been approached by EFC and declined to extend?

Really need to offer Baines a new contract now.

I don't expect he'd sign it and I reckon he's off in January but we'll see. If he goes then so be it, hopefully Man Utd will get knocked out the Champs League and not qualify for next season and begin their steady decline into League 2, I've drifted into dreamland here.

Sure. No one is bigger than our club. If he wants to leave so be it but at least we shall offer him a new contract to see how he reacts.

...Ferguson/Moyes are probably on the phone felling him not to sign. In all seriousness, I think the future has been agreed and Baines has said he will stay till either January or more likely the end of season, at that stage he will be allowed his move.

If he wants to leave we will get over it. Everton always do.

I was told in the summer that if Baines did leave we had his replacement lined up. Take it for what it's worth.

It's a reasonable assumption, regardless of ITK status of the person who told you this.

You'd assume if there was fear of any of our key players going, we'd have replacement signings lined up.
