Leighton Baines

Who plays left back for Wigan?

James McClean? Or is he a RB?

Anyway, no one really knows what is happening with his contract, the rags are just assuming things and stating them as fact.

The lad hasn't said he wants to leave, yet he hasn't signed a new contract, that could mean anything, but we are Everton and if he does leave then we'll move on, just like we have done with players before him.

Stats can be a load of crap though, i don't get how people are manipulated by them. A player could have a 99% pass completion for a game, that one misplaced pass could have lead to a goal.

Manchester United will sign Leighton Baines from Everton for £15m in January. Former Blues manager David Moyes failed with several bids for the England left-back, 28, in the summer and Everton are looking at Swansea's Ben Davies, 20, and Chelsea's Ryan Bertrand, 24, as possible alternatives.

I'd be devastated to lose Baines and would ask for a couple more million but if we can get £17mil-£20mil for him and bring in either Davies or Bertrand for around the £5mil mark, would that be good business if Baines 'wants' to leave?

Not sure on that Bertrand, myself.

Agreed mate. And anyways, if Baines does leave then I would like Oviedo to be given a run of games and see how he gets on. He's spent the best part of a year collecting splinters on his arse studying one of the best left backs in Europe so I would like to think he's took a few things on board and would rightfully be given a chance to prove himself. Took Baines a long time to establish himself so I don't see why Oviedo can't be given a fair crack of the whip.

even if he were to give oviedo a go, we'd still need a replacement. There's no point in selling arguable our best player and replacing him with someone as a backup for oviedo, especially when other positions aren't in massive need of strengthening.
