Leighton Baines

Given our astute transfer window business, hopefully a sizeable chunk of the profits made will go towards giving Baines a 5 year mega deal,he's worth every penny.
Food for thought ?

From the clubs point of view, it would have been a mistake to offer him a new contract while the window was still open. He would have been in too strong a position.

Also, normally the first draft would be rejected. Imagine the headlines and the meltdown that would have followed.

The right thing to so was wait until the window closed & calm it down.

I agree but I'm concerned he still wont want to sign a new contract now, he might want to wait till Jan first.

Why?

At no point has Baines looked for a move, if he wanted it, he could have had it last Summer and defo this Summer.

...I just think he's a top pro. He clearly has great respect for the club and its fans but it would be naïve to think he would not welcome a move to United. We should brace ourselves for a possible exit but suspect it will not be done in the full glare of the media.

All I know is, is that I'm gonna give the lad the loudest standing ovation since Duncan came back tomorrow afternoon.

I'm sure I won't be alone in applauding the fantastic little indie fan.
