A soon as we got Martinez it was pretty obviously we'd get those two, i could have called that.

I accept I'll probably be in a minority of one, but I would be comfortable selling Baines for 16 million, using the cash to strengthen other areas and use Oviedo as left wing back in Martinez' preferred 3 at the back system.

Obviously in an ideal world I wouldn't sell, but that money could buy the lad from Ajax and a quality central midfielder, while Oviedo would be a more than able replacement for Baines.

Personally, I couldn't get on board with that. Oviedo looks to be a great prospect, but the rash challenge from the game the other week is evident that he has lot to learn on the Defensive side of things.

Granted, using him as a WB would alleviate some of the defensive aspects of his game. But we'd be relying on him to perform week in week out with no cover for him. I'm more than happy to have him as an understudy for Baines for the foreseeable future, with Oviedo eventually replacing him further down the line.
