what i don't get is, the charges relate to the finances of x number of years ago, so why are the clubs complaining about last year etc? if they want to get it right, it should affect the years we broke the rule and not just a random year, in which case we would have been well safe anyway.

They can try. But total waste of time. The PL set the rules, we broke them (apparently) and got given a punishment as per the rule book. If you dont like the rule book and the corrupt people who write and interpret it then dont enter the competition.

Absolutely, they could more sucessfully sue the PL for letting the apparent rule breaking happen and not instigating the rules quicker. They let it flow for years while faffing about while the competition rumbles on.
Imagine the precident when they strip City of all their titles and then the other clubs come after the PL for loss of earnings due to missing out on this and than and the other....you can make a film about this crap!

Exactly. Its why any clubs sueing Everton is nonsense. Sue the PL if they dont like the rules and the punishement written into the rules that they voted and signed up for.

As most reasonable people in the game I have spoken to reckon that if Everton have to take a penalty so do others, particularly Man City, Chelsea and perhaps others too.
Good thing for |Everton this season is that a 10 point penalty may cause a bit of bruising but it wont be life threatening as there are at least 4 teams who will end up below Everton this season even with the points deduction.
The fans and the team will be galvanised by this and will create even more passion as the Goodison Park era gives way to a new life at BM Dock.
