Hope it comes round for ye.

Rovers had their horror days too including purgatory in the First for a season, but DG seem to be very professional in their approach to everything from under 9s to seniors, ladies etc.

A mix of strong supporters shareholding along with people with sports AND business acumen seems to be yielding fruit.

Best of luck Nero.
Thanks Rover. Safe to say there are no short term issues now but I think long term it's nailed on to happen again. Foras are accidental owners of the club and it's now been proved that the coop/society infrastructure of Foras isn't the correct set up for running a football club, rovers set up is far more suitable from what I can see. Tbh I don't think any proposal if one comes is getting through our membership as there are too many with a I want to own my football club thought process.
Probably 12 months before any vote would be taken anyway so we will see what happens long term

Ya Maguire and Alan Browne clauses. Tbf they were the mechanism used to allow Hemmings to get money into the club. He put in a significant amount of money with no return on the table so far bar an agreement that if he comes back with a take over proposal, we are obliged to listen and vote upon it. No proposal currently exists.
Ccfc are 100% the makers of their own issues and we take responsibility for that but a few things went against us here as well that are examples of unfortunate timing. 1) The revenue having proposed a repayment plan of monies owed themselves, then withdrew the proposal when the club agreed to it, limerick screwing them over and a certain politician saying if the fai goes the loi goes too, would have played a large part in this. The revenue demanded everything up front and we needed a tax clearance certificate to obtain a license. 2) The fai had their holes opened by uefa so the first chance the new fai had to show how reformed they were was ccfc license application and man they went to town on us. The bom believed that securing X in funding would ensure we were viable until the seasons end, the fai insisted it needed to be 2X to grant a license. Hemmings gave is the 2X which is a bigger figure then has so far been quoted in the media, by lodging the revenue money in escrow for them and providing the club with the rest, this was facilitated in two ways 1) they bought the sell on clauses and 2) they paid for the right to be heard on a takeover proposal. We were two hours from being done as a club and somehow this bom found a white knight.
These are legacy issues which have had to be dealt with by this bom despite them not causing the issues. Im my opinion the [Poor language removed] the chairman and bom members take on line is horrific from anonymous twitter accounts etc, the bring back JC brigade despite imho the same JC and his stooges on the bom destroying this club, the worst thing that happened us was winning that double. He was given free reign after that and ran us into the ground
Cheers for the info, very scary that it went so close to disaster, do ye hope, think Hemmings will come in with a bid, I read about a proposed bid to buy Turners Cross. I have to admit to knowing nothing about him or his business.

Hopefully things start to look brighter in the near future, horrible seeing clubs on the brink, and not to long after another city club going.

Not the least bit surprised reading about the fai, absolute cowboys, not holding out much hope on things changing there anytime soon, even with some of the dodgy heads gone.

Dundalk were on the brink of extinction in 2012. The last few seasons have been polar opposite.

That's the thing with the LOI, it can go tit$ up pretty quickly or vice versa...enjoy the ride while you can

Massive game tommorow in Tallaght stadium. Excepted to be a sell out. The two best teams in the country. Should be a cracker and hopefully a Rovers win.

Just checked the website and West and South stands are sold out. There are tickets available in the East Stand where the away fans will be with 1,000 allocated to Dundalk also sold out..

The capacity is about 10K but allowing for segregation it should still be 8k which would beat the record 7,021 against Bohs last August.

I can't make it as I have to stay home in KK but I will be glued to RTE2.

Come on the Hoops!!

I read that Burke could miss the game, any truth there? Dundalk are without Mountney, Murray, McEleney all out, as well as new signings Leahy and Colovic.

Atmosphere should be great and massive travelling support heading south today.

C'mon da town!

I can't see rovers losing tonight tbh and I'd fully expect them to actually win the game. This Dundalk side is no where near the side of the last few years and Rovers are getting better. Add in my opinion that Perth is an absolute clown and it all points in one direction. Also as an aside I fully expect sideways to be Dundalk manager this time next year. I will be in the cross for the relegation six pointer

Why the bitterness and hatred? I'm not a big Perth fan but he did a great job last season in the wake of Kenny's departure. Coming up short of a treble by losing on pens...you've gotta tip your hat to that.

And as for Cork, it doesn't matter if you fold (again), you'll return in another format eventually. Is there a name you haven't used yet? Cork Rovers perhaps? Enjoy the battle for the drop with Finn Harps mate. Fenn deserves it.

Goal of the season nailed on by Flores tonight. Unbelievable technique and strike.

Unfortunately Rovers wanted it more tonight. Duffy had an unusually poor game with a series of bad deliveries in second half. Even Shields had a stinker and was given a runaround.

Can't deny the better team won tonight, but the likes of Finn and Bolger really get on my nerves with the constant cynical and snidey theatrics. Getting in the refs ear and face all night whinging and moaning every decision.

Dundalk will need to step up when the get all fit players back. Don't think they could give Rovers another 13pt headstart this time...

Shields was awful at centre half, normally plays bit further forward doesn't he, looked lost there.

He plays centre mid, defensive. Hoare sometimes moves into midfield but he was centre back with Boyle tonight. I think they rotate the centre back pairing too much. Cleary started first game of the season. Gartland is aging but gets a run too. I'd rather have a settled back line.
